I emailed the staff beforehand, telling them I would be just after getting engaged, asking them to upgrade my room if they could. They never said that they would not, they send back a positive response offering a cake and rose petals. When we got there, they put us in a room which was facing a boiler, on the 2nd floor, we could not go into the balcony due to the smog and smell coming from the street. I asked them what happened, and if they could upgrade us (after already paying 120 a night) and they said it would only cost 35 euros more a night, and we would need to change 2 times in 3 nights.. The management there were really poor, after a string of childish emails, I gave up looking for a solution with them. We arranged a tour, which they add on a massive price, and they seem to purchase the cheapest tour possible. we went on one, the food was terrible, I nearly vomited off the boat, and my girlfriends towel was stolen. There was only 4 of us on the boat, meant to be a private luxury tour which cost us 3 times what we could have paid in the port. I have a feeling that everything in this hotel is set up to juice money out of the people staying there. The staff on the ground are fantastic, but its my feeling that the bad management running this place is making poor decisions which will be detrimental to the success of the hotel and also to peoples experience there. The food in the breakfast was great, but the menu in the evening was very expensive and it was like Russian roulette to see if the foot that came out was edible. In all, this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in, and it was by far the worst, I paid more thinking that the extra money would equal respect and good service,...
Read moreStayed at the Two Seasons Bayside for 5 nights in the Bayview Deluxe room on the 4th floor. The room was spacious, with a nice balcony and a big comfortable king size bed. The room showed some signs of wear and tear but nothing that bothered us. The shower water does not automatically flow to the drain, we had to help it a bit, could be improved with an angular design toward the drain. The view is not fully on the sea; you actually see the harbor port were boats to El Nido depart - didn’t bother us but had I known before we would have upgraded. The cheaper rooms face the street, I wouldn’t recommend those, spend some more bucks on the nicer ones away from the busy road.
The gym is air conditioned and has a good choice of dumbells, treadmill and more. No mats unfortunately, I’d recommend to pre-download your workout due to lack of WiFi up there. The pool area is nice, however some more umbrellas providing shade would be nice, we could stay long at the pool due to the relentless sun. You can get new beach towels by presenting town cards at the pool. Tricycles are plenty to take you for 150 pesos to the restaurants. The hotel is well connected, however you cannot walk from there to the restaurants due to the heavy traffic.
Breakfast choices for westerners are alright, there is an egg station to make you eggs in all variety and bring it to your table. I enjoyed the waffles with either chocolate sauce or maple syrup, very airy and fluffy. The daily choice of fruit waters changes. Breakfast starts from 6:30 to 10am.
I’d recommend staying here if you value a nicer hotel, with a bit more luxury than the surrounding parts and don’t mind taking tricycles to the...
Read moreThis hotel is in Coron but is a little out from the main strip where all the restaurants are. The hotel itself is quite nice at first, but you soon notice a number of small things that detract from the experience. The service at the restaurant is great and all of the staff were very helpful. The food wasn't great. We only ate there once except for breakfast even though we stayed 3 nights. Breakfast had a lot of options that were a lot less western, which is understandable, but some staples were missing on a couple of mornings, i.e., bacon. The fruit was sometimes a little below the standard I'd expect, but there was an egg station and a pancake and waffle station, which were both great. In the rooms, the air con had two settings, very loud and loud. This meant it had to be off at night, but luckily, there was a fan that just about kept us cool enough. The pool was lovely with great sunset views, though the floors were often dirty, and there were quite a few broken tiles/slats with gaps, etc. The windows onto the water also needed cleaning.
The gym had 2 air conditioners, one of which was broken and as it was on the roof and all glass it got a lot of sun and one of the blinds was completely missing. It was probably 27° in there, even with the other air conditioner at the lowest temp and highest fan. The floor was very dirty.
Again, the staff couldn't be faulted. They were wonderful and happy to help at any point. The happy hour was also nice with a number of cocktails and beer on buy one get one free. We also had a transfer to the Island Resort, and this was wonderful and smooth. Overall, it wasn't the standard we expected for the price or...
