I stayed with my wife at P’ere Aristo during October 2014. It’s a strikingly beautiful building in many ways with extensive use of marble in the interior. The location is great for Lapu Lapu, Airport, Pacific Mall and Mandaue Central. There’s an RC church nearby too (Christ the King). Transport available closeby is Taxi, Jeepney and Trike (Motor Cycle and sidecar). There’s a small supermarket also nearby (Fresh and Easy, formerly Tita Gwapa).||||First of all, I have to say that it’s really self-catering rooms rather that a guesthouse in the conventional way. Room 6 where we stayed was on the first floor and was very spacious! I would say of the order of 12 sq. mtrs. There was a small en-suite shower included and effective air con. Also featured were 2 beds, one single one double.||||Facilities.here are a bit basic. (In room 6) there was no TV, no chairs, no table, no fridge, no floor coverings, no provided breakfast. There are some wall units for storage on one side of the room. Bear in mind this is budget accomodation. There’s no strong wifi to most rooms- though you may just be able to squeeze a signal in some places (only my Compaq laptop worked in the room). If you need any of the above you can use communal facilities in the downstairs lounge. Food items can be bought and cooked in the communal kitchen (for a small charge). We brought our own kettle and cups for tea and coffee making in the room.||||Cleaning and supplies. If you want the room cleaned, fresh towels, soap, toilet rolls you will probably have to ask….it seems none of these will be attended to unless requested. I saved the cardboard from the old toilet roll to show reception to avoid having to mime.||||Annoyances. No more than anywhere else in Phils. A basic sympathy with Phils plumbing is helpful, you may need to improvise from time to time, but that’s half the fun! It’s best to have an insect spray handy for the odd ant or fly, remember this is a hot country and such things are usual! The local dogs were noisy in the evening but otherwise this location is tranquil.||||Safety and security. I have little doubt that this is one of the most safe and secure accomodations in Cebu. I got the impression that no staff would go in your room unless asked to.||||The staff are very helpful when asked, should you need something. One day we had a blocked loo at about 6:30 am. This was dealt with IMMEDIATELY by staff and was cleared in literally 5 minutes. I was impressed by that! No stress, no mess!||||Value for money. Value is fine I would say, but my advice is search out the cheapest price online, I booked directly and paid more than the ‘online price’...
Read moreOnly booked this place as it was close to the airport the following day, and cheap.||||We were put in a tiny room on the top floor, despite it seeming like the entire place was empty otherwise. It was baking hot all night and no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get any air in as there is no external window.||||Weirdest thing though was that one of the lads who worked there appeared to be spying on us through the slatted window that entered into the hallway. More than once I spotted him lingering at the end of the corridor (where there is nothing other than a view into our room). He also turned up when my parter went for her shower wrapped in her towl. ||||The worst one, though, was when we had turned our light off to sleep - I saw a shadow moving under the door so got up and opened it to find him crouched down outside our room. He protested that he was checking a fire extinguisher or closing the upstairs door but he was lying. I asked him to leave us alone.||||We felt horrible and yet were not really in a position to do anything about it other than leave first thing in the morning. ||||Never ever known anything like it. Disgusting memory. Please don't go to this place if you...
Read morewhoever wrote that review for the wonderful solid house is either owner or a relative... yes , the house is solid, but here is what i got as a 10 usd room per night (it was meant to be the last night before flying out):||||an empty cell containing only two wooden benches with a very thin foam mattress, no window, old aircon which if you like to use raises the price to 20 usd, a toilet without seat, non working shower without a shower head.... ||||a maintance man brought a fan in, and worked on the shower to make it usable.... all together extremely depressing place, only suitable to lay down and hope the morning comes faster. ||||if of any use, this would be a place you could go for say 2 hours of a cheap animalistic intimate encounter.||||... even a local person may resist staying there overnight, as did my companion.... bringing me a reasoning that her foreign brother in law would never bring her sister to such place, she asked me for money to leave me and go to her province. (obviously relatives there often leave their beloved girls without a peso, expecting the foreigner to take care in all instances)....||on the end we checked out one hour after check in and got another place...
