RedDoorz Plus New Era Budget Hotel Mabolo — Hotel in Cebu City

We stayed here for 2 nights just recently. We didn't enjoy our stay for 2 main reasons.

First, the aircon temperature can't be adjusted. There was no remote for it as well. The temp was set to 22 degrees. This was too cold for us and with only 1 thin blanket for 2, we could hardly ever sleep. We complained about it to the front desk but they just said they can't provide for a remote (But there were 2 remotes for the TV, and the cable. So, why not for the aircon?). They also promised to adjust it in the morning. In the meantime, we had to pay an additional 50Php for another blanket which is a thicker one than what they had provided for (But why didn't they provide this in the first place? Pangwarta kaayo). The next day, they increased the temp, but at night the aircon adjusted by itself back to 22 deg.

Another issue is the water heater in the shower. Apart from the clogged shower head resulting to a very low water pressure, the knob for the thermostat adjustment is, again, not working. As you take a shower, the temp gradually goes up and down from 40 deg to 70 deg!! While the faucet under the shower works pretty well, they don't provide a bucket and dipper!

Their food is not even great. Not worth the price.

The pillows are also too thick.

There were endless ants, flies and lizards in my room. No matter how many times I crush them, they just keep coming back. You get one water bottle a day. This is a good point. There is a clean graining and trip kit, toothbrush, shampoo and soap every day, so the making service is satisfactory. The shower suddenly gets hot, so be careful. You will get burned. The location is very good, as it is only a few minutes walk to Ayala Center Cebu. There were some rules that I didn't understand, so I would like them to change the rules to prioritize customers. There were some difficult rules that were selfish. I would like them to be more flexible. If I were not a kind-hearted person and not from the country, I would have a dispute. However, considering the price and various other aspects, it is a hotel that I can fully recommend. If you come here, you may want to stay for...

It wasn't terrific, but it wasn't terrible either - it was decent for the price you pay.

Pros: Friendly staff, Security 24/7, Elevator, Shower/Bathroom facilities, chicken takeaway shop down the street.

Cons: Bed mattress is 10cm of foam, Pillows aren't soft, Neighbourhood roosters wake you up at 5am.

Conclusion: If you want a budget hotel and can deal without some standards you'd have at home, to save a few bucks, then this is good value for money, but not everyone...
