The hotel served its purpose. It was close to the airport and park and fly where we needed to be for an early morning flight. The sink faucet was loose as is usually the case in the Philippines because no one owns the tool to wrench under the the sink. Everywhere you go you’ll find the same thing. Sink plumbing is installed ginger tight but loosens within a year. Which brings me to the elephant in the room…
Im writing this review as I’m sitting in a mom and pop hotel here in Bangkok for about the same price as in Manila. The room is big, clean, breakfast is included the mattress is firm and comfortable. The service is excellent.
Sigh. Here’s the thing. The rooms in the Philippines just aren’t that good. They aren’t particularly clean. Not bad mostly but not great. Things don’t work, drains are clogged, showers don’t work, service isn’t great and there’s garbage (litter) everywhere. This isn’t just Manila it’s the Philippines in general.
I live in the Philippines. It’s cheap, people speak English, parts of the country are very laid back and people are generally friendly. That said, it’s a horrible value for travel. While hotels are cheaper, they feel cheaper. The food is oily, salty and too sweet. And the wifi and infrastructure suck. The beaches are a polluted mess. And there’re power outages regularly. It’s not a good travel bargain. It just isn’t. I don’t hate or dislike the Philippines at all. It’s just not worth my travel dollars when there’s so many better...
Read moreFair enough for budget conscious guests. The lobby would be a great catch!!! It is spacious and comfy, along with "Cafe France" conveniently situated on one side, opposite the main lobby and reception desk. Food is A-ok, and it's open 24/7.
Downside would be the rooms, with only plywood walls between them. I wasn't able to sleep well with all the noise coming from next door rooms. Also encountered problems first hand with the door lock. It won't automatically lock after leaving the room. They had to call for maintenance to have it fixed. Another would be the air conditioning unit which malfunctioned, and had to be reset yet again. One more inconvenient thing would be the elevator, which would not function properly if you don't have the key card with you. I had to leave the keycard inside the room, otherwise, everything gets turned off, while my aunt was inside. I had to look for a crew with a key card, each time, to assist me at the elevator. Worst for me would be the inn not having to provide the guests with toothbrush/paste nor slippers. The shower is awesome, but the bathroom structure was kinda off... Water dripped/leaked through the glass door, almost flooding the hallway by the door. Add to that the sink that seemed to be clogged. I am never used to this kind of accommodation on hotels.
This could pass for 3 stars, but really good enough for those who don't expect much, and layovers. Or, maybe it was just our luck... Maybe it went well with...
Read moreIt's near the airport. That's the only great thing about this place. It's a budget hotel, so don't expect too much. The lobby and rooms are airconditioned but their hall ways and elevators are not. They offer transportation service to the airport as well. For me, that's a plus. They also offer massage services. The "cafe" is over priced. Just dropped off the parents and sibs there because their flight is tomorrow. We had merienda there and were shocked of their prices. It's not even yummy. We had 7 coffees and some light pastries and paid more than a thousand bucks. Better to go to starbucks/tim hortons/krispy kreme/jco than have coffee there. Note: their coffee prices are similar. Their first floor washroom/comfort room, caters to all genders and it's only one. Their tap was broken so, no hand washing after doing number 1 or nunber 2 (pee ot poop). Some staff are friendly, some just put on a poker face like the bell boys and the guard. I sneaked a peak in the rooms my parents and sibs were staying at, it's an alright room. But they don't have complimentary toiletries so my sibs had to buy at a nearby 7 eleven. If you're looking for a budget friendly hotel to spend the night before your flight the next day, this is an okay hotel to stay at. Obviously not the best, but it caters to what a traveller basically needs before his/her flight--- a place to sleep and transportation service without shelling...
