Tenya (ASEANA, Macapagal Blvd) — Restaurant in Parañaque

Had our late dinner at Tenya yesterday on Maundy Thursday.

We waited for a few minutes because the place is jam-packed with people. Upon seating, we ordered Ooedo Set, spicy salmon maki and tenya salad. We thought the service was fast because our drinks were served immediately. Unfortunately, our foods were served longer than expected. As a matter of fact, the other table who were next to us being seated was served first. There might be confusion on their side. Good thing is they have a great smiles while serving. So, its okay.

With regards to food, Ooedo set (tempura, salmon, squid, vegetable with rice and guava slush) which is good for 4 is in average taste. Nothing really special. But I like the most is their spicy salmon maki.

Tenya has parking for their customers so if you happened to be in Aseana and decided to dine here, go directly to their place instead of heading to pay parking area...

This place has really deteriorated. A placed that used to serve nice homey Japanese food is now a lousy place to visit.

Parking: they have signs to block the slots only for customers, but no one to move them so customers can actually park.

Air-conditioning was not sufficient given the heat, and half their blinds are broken and does not pull down. Also, this is the only place I’ve ever seen that scrimps even on paper placemats and give them only on request!

Food was terrible. Their hot udon used to be nice, but they changed their noodles that now tastes like undone...

I have to say that Tenya's claim to authentic Japanese food is not fake news! My dad and I were finding a place for dinner around a month ago after a long drive, and Tenya was there to welcome us. Quite literally at that, the security guy working by the door was a very warm person and he welcomed us to the restaurant. Fast forward to dinner, my dad had ramen and I had udon, alongside with that we also got a basket of tempura. The Black Tiger tempura is a MUST TRY! I thank the staff for being kind, and the restaurant also had great atmosphere so dinner was overall...
