A group of us stayed here the night of arriving in PP before embarking our scuba liveaboard and chose the hotel as it was where the liveaboard company did a town pick up from. |Simple accommodation, but clean and functioning. Very spacious rooms - we had 4 girls sharing one room with two double beds. The bathroom/shower was a little tired but I only had one quick shower. |A pretty garden surrounding a pool - I didn't end up swimming as it was quite a hot, muggy, grey day and the pool was more warm than refreshing in that moment, but I also only spent about 18 hours total at the hotel so if I was there longer I would definitely have had some pooltime. It was cute watching some local kids have a mermaiding lesson.|The restaurant is not set up for large orders so bear that in mind timing wise - it is a one chef kitchen. If you are landing at 7pm or later make sure you request the chef stay if you want dinner on site as they will otherwise leave at 9pm. The chicken & mushroom pasta was good. Breakfast was also good - fruit, pancakes and egg, but only instant coffee.|I particularly liked the access to free drinking water refill - there is a cooler in the dining area.|The staff were helpful - with the chef staying late for us, helping us call to book some massages down the road at Nuat Thai Spa, helping me get a bowl of rice for lunch when I tried to order when the kitchen was backed up we made a plan B.|Location is a bit further down in the quiet end of Manalo St. It isn't far to walk up to the part with restaurants, coffee shops and the spa, but I probably wouldn't have done that walk alone as a female in the dark so I would stay here with a group more than solo. I'm sure it is very safe, but as a general rule of thumb I don't walk alone in the dark down quiet streets. After the liveaboard I stayed in the 'busier' part of Manalo St. ||Would I stay here again - well if in PP I would probably go to my second hotel as a repeat customer as it was just nicer all around (but also cost double the price). However, Acacia is perfectly adequate for the price point if you are looking for accommodation close to the airport or the boat pier in southern PP at a very reasonable price and it is true to...
Read moreLocated in a quiet nook in Bancao Bancao, about 2 kilometers from the airport and the down town area, Acacia Tree gives off a "my own private paradise" vibe without the hefty price tag of exclusivity.
The whole compound is cool even in the hottest days of summer, as trees surround the whole perimeter. The hotel is well laid out, with a lot of nooks and crannies that give guests privacy. There are lots of open spaces through which a good breeze blows.
There is a swimming pool in the middle, which runs from 4 to 5 and a half feet along its length. There is also a wading pool for kids. The lounge chairs around the pool are a good place to lie down at night and watch the stars al fresco, with the tree canopy giving you a good cover in case it rains.
There is a restaurant that serves buffet breakfast (included in the price of your accommodation), as well as other dining options. However, serving portions are a bit on the small side, just enough for two hungry men. A typical main dish will cost you around 300 pesos or about 6USD.
The hotel has free transportation to the airport at fixed schedules, 6 times a day. Outside this schedule however, you will be charged if you want to go to the airport.
Wi fi is a bit on the weak side inside the rooms, though that is easily solved by relocating to your sun porch, which has a table and chairs so you can lounge around.
When you do get bored but want to stay indoors, the main lobby has a billiard table, a foosball machine, and a sungka set (Sungka is a native board game where you try to end up with more tokens than your opponent by capturing more of his).
The hotel can arrange tours for you if you are inclined. Staff are friendly without being servile or condescending.
On the downside, it is a bit off the beaten path, figuratively speaking. For me that's actually a plus as it means you avoid the loud, arrogant tourist types who typically congregate within the more urban areas.
Overall, four...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and do not stay here. If I can give them "0" stars I would. I've been here less than 2 hours and experienced some of the worst service. We arrived at the hotel this morning thinking that we had 2 tours booked through them--one on each day of our stay--and the reason we thought this is because it has been confirmed via email. However once we got here we realized nothing had been booked. When I showed the guy at the reception my email exchange he just shrugged and said there was nothing. I asked if it was too late to book a tour for the same day and he said I could if I wanted to book a private tour and pay for the cost of 7 people (I obviously declined). So now that we were out a whole day of our itinerary and had nothing else to do we decided it's best to head to our room. But he informed me that although our room was ready we would have to pay 200 pesos an hour until the check-in time at 2pm--and yes, it was their mistake we had to go sit in our rooms anyway. Also, he would only take this charge in cash, even though everything else like the restaurant "would be ok with card." We didn't have enough cash on us (ATM at airport had been out of order) so we had to hire a scooter to take us to one and back. The best part was that before we left he was insisting on putting our bags in the room so he could start charging us from that point--I again declined his offer.
What irked me the most was that he was not at all apologetic about their mistakes or concerned about our stay at their establishment. We had already paid ahead and they had us in a bind so I guess he didn't need to be.
And just as a side not the resort does not look it's pics--much smaller,...
