Synopsis: We loved staying here and hope to make it back one day.
Longform: We showed up in Puerto Princessa without a plan of where we would stay and were lucky to come across this magical gem of a place. Don Maria is a bit off the beaten path, outside of downtown bustle, and a great option if you are looking for a peaceful and private stay. While tucked away from the bustle, Don Maria is located really close to the airport (so not that far away). It features a gorgeous garden paradise complete with fairy lights. Not surprisingly, many couples have gotten married here. The rooms were comfortable and included strong wifi and air conditioning. In addition to rooms, Don Maria also has a kitchen staffed with talented cooks and a diverse menu with tasty vegetarian / meat dishes. The food was so good, we had no desire to eat anywhere else during our stay in Puerto Princessa – some standout dishes were the crispy chicken, chicken curry, eggplant coconut curry, vegetable soup, and garlic rice. The personalized experience also makes a stay at Don Maria special – the owner lives on site with some of her family. She cares deeply about her guests experience. She checked in frequently to ensure our stay was comfortable and even had dinner with us one night. She also connected us with her personal masseuse who provided an in-room massage that was fantastic! Finally – as embarrassing as it is to admit it – when we got to the airport and realized we’d left our passports at the hotel, the owner had them delivered to us straight away. In sum, we were very lucky to stumble upon this place and cannot recommend it...

Read moreHonest review on their restaurant. We checked out the place because we needed a peaceful and quiet place where we can have our lunch. The place is hhhuge with lots of plants and trees around. The restaurant is giving a “grandmothers place vibe where its nice to spend the weekend while reading a book and feel the free gush of wind kind a thing”… just feeling the nature if you know what I mean. The food is average though, we dont know if they were expecting a customer on that day. Some items on the menu are not available. It took them a while to serve the food. The place is not properly maintained but if given a proper attention, it has a potential. Now, lets go to the food we ordered, the Lauya has the same taste and texture as my grandmas. The tofu with mushroom is salty for me. The adobo is normal, our version at the house is still the best. The...
