Things have obviously picked up from the time of the previous couple of years but I was left with the overall impression that the potential of this hotel is unfulfilled. It's a modern cross between student halls of residences (most notable in the spartan corridors) and a UK Travelodge. The room is basic, plenty of hanging and drawer space but the softest (not in a good way) bed. The room was extremely hot and a small fan did little to cool it down. A clean bathroom but the rooms were only serviced once during a six night stay and I think that was a mistake. The location is superb on Mill's Island, next to the rather grandly titled marina (a couple of peddle boats and a few canoes!) Staff were friendly. There was a huge breakfast spread but it was hot and the fare on offer was neither covered nor in a chilled cabinet. This proved to be a field day for flies. It is cheap to stay though which may be its biggest attraction. With a little more investment and care, it could...
Read moreBooked a family reunion at this place and met with the "host" who I had corresponded with prior to the occasion to agree on the menu and drinks etc at a set price and to ensure everything would be just as I wanted on the day only to discover that to my horror, the management had included a substantial additional charge to our catering bill!! This had never been discussed during our meeting prior to our family reunion and I was presented with a bill with additional charges that could not be explained to me by the waiting staff! Beware future guests!! They're not honest with you from the off set, I was confirmed a price the day before our occasion commenced and actually on the day, they charged us a lot more than they'd...
Read moreReading the positive reviews I had good expectations of this hotel but after I’m not sure if I stayed in the same hotel. True, the hotel is beautifully located at the water and very close to the attractive city center. From the outside the hotel looks very promising, once inside it looks more like a youth hostel. The rooms are very basic, there is no air conditioning, and the tiny ventilator produces the noise of a turboprop airplane. The TV is extremely small; you need a pair of binoculars to watch it. The room looks tiered and the housekeeping is poor. The breakfast was basic and not well tend. Although it is advertised and priced as a middle class hotel it is more a...
