Mixed Experience at Mövenpick Karpacz - Room for Improvement
Our Stay: Family of 4 (children aged 5 and 2) - 5 nights
The Good: The hotel itself is new, modern, and clean with well-furnished, cozy rooms and comfortable beds. The à la carte dining was a highlight - the steak tartare, fish, and risotto were all tasty and highly recommended.
The Disappointing: After an 11-hour journey with two young children (ages 2 and 5), we arrived after 22:00 to find zero parking spaces available. Despite the hotel having underground parking, it wasn't opened even at 90% occupancy. We finally found a spot at the edge near the road - not the welcome you expect after a long trip with small children.
The restaurant experience was particularly frustrating over our 5-night stay. Breakfast becomes a "traffic jam" between 8:30-10:00 with families waiting for tables despite paying for full service. When we saw a large table for 8 people that could accommodate our two waiting families with children, we were told it was "reserved" with "special information" that another family wanted it. Yet when asked about reservations, staff said they don't take them - inconsistent and unfair treatment.
At lunch, one of only two main course options was unavailable at 13:10 in an empty restaurant - poor planning that wasn't communicated upfront. We were seated and ordered the kids menu when we got told that one of the two main courses was not there. If informed earlier, we would have walked away to an outside restaurant.
The buffet closes at 19:00 and offers limited variety compared to similar 4+ star resorts in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. The reception area gets crowded during checkout with insufficient seating, and the bar area is too small for events like chocolate hour when many families with kids gather.
Staff training needs attention - some don't speak English and lack proper name tags indicating languages spoken. When they speak english, they often communicate poorly. Instead of saying “Could you please wait”, the replies are “you need to wait!”. Sorry but guests are not paying to be talked in such tone.
Suggestions for the Hotel: Open underground parking, convert some parking beside the restaurant to outdoor restaurant seating terrace, increase restaurant capacity and staff, create an outdoor play area for children, move chocolate hour to the main restaurant, and improve buffet options with extended hours until at least 20:00.
For Future Guests: Don't expect German/Austrian 4-star standards. Expect crowds and skip the evening buffet option - you'll find better dining and service at nearby restaurants.
Rating: 2/5 - While the rooms are nice, the operational issues significantly impact the guest experience for the price point, especially for families.
Edit: Based on the Hotel’s response, I need to clarify certain points. After we came late and had difficulty finding parking spot, during the check-in, i informed the person managing the reception desk about the parking situation and she informed me about the underground parking. Either she did not herself know, which again points to staff not properly trained or aware, or the hotel’s response here not being true.
Regarding the food, the last image from my post serves as reference. One of the two main courses on offer was not available and we weren’t informed until we sat down and ordered the kids menu. I agree food preferences vary but comparatively, the buffet under delivers when compared to DE/AT resorts.
Wishing the hotel and the staff the best and hopefully...
Read moreWe brought our cat, and everything has been thoughtfully arranged for guests traveling with pets. Housekeeping is fast and professional — usually four people arrive within minutes to clean and tidy up efficiently.
Our superior room is beautifully decorated and spacious enough for three people and a cat. The coffee selection in the room is great, and the small kitchen sink is a very practical detail. The shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom are also of good quality.
Breakfast is a rich and well-thought-out buffet that caters to many different tastes. And every day between 3 and 4 PM, there’s a complimentary dessert buffet at the reception — a lovely surprise.
As a foodie, I was most impressed by the dinner service. Each evening, there’s a set menu with three starters, three main courses, and three desserts — each dish is thoughtfully prepared and presented to a standard that rivals Michelin-star restaurants. The creativity and flavors are outstanding. Huge respect to the chefs!
The wine list is also extensive and well chosen. Most staff members are warm and helpful, but I’d like to give special thanks to Szymon (I hope I spelled his name correctly) for his calm, kind, and attentive service during dinner.
Despite the outdoor temperature being around 13–14°C, the pool water is warm enough to enjoy swimming with my 10-year-old daughter — which is rare and appreciated.
The hotel is also within walking distance of Karpacz town center, which makes it easy to explore the area without needing a car.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and high-quality stay.
Just a couple of suggestions: The “Little Bird” children’s area could benefit from a few more options for older kids and some multi-language content. Also, it would be great if live music and animations, which are currently available only on weekends, could be offered at least one...
Read moreThe hotel is brand new and really nice, however, it seems that the attention to detail is not their main priority.
We had a nice 6 night stay and generally we were very satisfied with the breakfast, chocolate hour, wellness and the room itself. the bed was simply great.
But one night the hotel organized a disco in the conference room. the noise was quite annoying until midnight all over the property, then the guests started to chat around the outside the pool. I complained about this to the reception and they were sorry but that was it. I talked about this to three different receptionist, everyone surprised to hear this for the first time (eventhough each of them took my room number and name and promised to get back to me). first one offered to change the room for us at 23:00 at night on the fourth night of our stay with our kid sleeping. I would say that a five star hotel should do better than this.
second of all, the hotel is in operation for 6 months but the doors, lifts are creeking, things are broken a lot (shower, toys in the kids club etc.). nobody seems to care to repair those. there was a leak from the AC in the restaurant for three days...
third disappointment is the lack of the Polish food on the half board menu. Bigos for breakfast and Zurek for dinner was it, otherwise no Polish cheese or other specialty. the food is really good with great choice but it would helpt to change the rather boring barbeque for...
