Inn Seventies Cheap & Chic (Reception) — Hotel in Lagos

Avoid avoid avoid.

We booked a stay here for Christmas. We chose a more expensive rate at the hotel which allowed us free cancellation until 21/12 while we finalised the details of our trip. 2 days after we booked the hotel, they charged my card x 3 times for the total stay.

I contacted them via booking.com and asked them why they had charged prematurely and repeatedly, I offered to pay a deposit for our stay given it was Christmas time.

My enquiry was met with a rude and accusatory message. I asked for our booking to be cancelled based on this. I advised them I would share the screenshots on their reviews to warn other guests. They then responded by threatening to report me to Lagos police for defamation and misrepresentation (again, for sharing screenshots of their replies) .

As a result we have cancelled our stay in Lagos and will visit a much friendlier Seville for our vacation.

I realise this review seems absolutely unbelievable so I’ve included the aforementioned screenshots of the conversation between Seventies Inn Lagos (trades under numerous names) and myself via booking.com messenger DM’s.

This is the worst vacation resort I have ever been to. There are so many things wrong with this place. All the pictures they have online are completely fake. Nothing is as promised. We feel betrayed.

The room had no air conditioning, even though it was advertised. The toilet didn’t work properly, and the stairs to the swimming pool were simply a bunch of wooden planks stacked on top of each other (very dangerous). The furniture was old and moldy. The kitchen was barely equipped, and there were no real beds (definitely not enough for 5 people as proposed). We literally had to sleep on old, thin mattresses on the floor (very uncomfortable). I was there with my grandma, and she couldn’t sleep well because it was hot and sticky in the room, with no real beds.

The pool had a non-working pump, and the whole complex is not elderly-friendly at all. My grandma had significant difficulty climbing the "stairs" from the bungalow to the pool area.

We complained about all this to the manager on-site, but he didn’t seem to care about our concerns.

I read a lot of good reviews about this place, but now I know that they are all fake.
