Restaurante A Matilde — Restaurant in Lagos

I arrived late into Lagos, and was searching for a place to grab dinner close to my accommodations. Not being one for the bar scene, but still wanting Portuguese food, I came across Matilde's. I arrived at the restaurant at 22:00, when I saw an older couple and a young lady chatting. The place was empty. While an empty restaurant would normally prompt me in the opposite direction, I did note that it was low season and I was drawn by the homey vibe the three had evoked - though, I later realized that the young lady may not be their daughter. I love seafood, so I tried to order the seafood rice and clams, which they ran out. The gentleman offered me the shrimp rice instead. It was AMAZING!!! This is a must go if you are in Lagos area. Me and my family loved the authentic food cooked with a lot of love from Matilde. Paulo and Matilde run this place for a couple of decades and have kept the authentic Portuguese spirit. I wanted to keep the pool area clean and went inside snackbar Matilde to throw away an empty soda can and an applecore in their bin...The owner stood up from his chair and said to me " the pool has as well! Dont use our bin, its only for the restaurant!!!" in a very unfriendly tone!!! I could not believe my ears! Ridiculous! Not ordering anything there after that...
