Fresh, (solo) friendly & local vibe

Recommended to me by airbnb owner from across the street. Happy i took his advice, I wouldn’t have chosen this this since i usually prefer ocean views being so close to the sea.

This experience was worth it, very friendly staff from the Tibetan waiter, to the BBQ chef. Had tasty sole fish and can also recommend the fresh lemongrass tea with leaves from the plant outside. Liked also the concept of outdoor bbq kitchen and the local vibe.

Also solo traveler friendly: could choose my own table so not stuffed away in a corner somewhere, staff was making friendly conversations and checking in frequently even though it got busy inside, offered me a blanket offered without asking. Just some less options since most fish were too big for 1 person. Would have liked an option to order a half portion of shrimps as a starter. Don’t see that many people eating by themselves in general, but would encourage you, its an opportunity for a more local experience. Usually the best if you dine early, so here around 18.30h.

And yes, just ask here for the price upfront, so you know what is coming and...

I promised the manager I would give them a review after we visited in October and now that they're back open, time to keep my promise. One of the best meals I had during our visit to Portugal, especially in Lagos. They got us seated after we walked up to the restaurant from the beach on our way back to our accommodations. We got the squid with garlic for an appetizer along with a cold Sagres and bottle of white wine. The one dish on my wish-list while visiting the Algarve was Cataplana and as soon as I saw it on the menu, I knew that's what I was getting. Props to the chefs in the kitchen, because I still think about that cataplana. I wish we had a place like this in the States and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone...

Never again. The owner is a pushy annoying man who can’t keep his manners around women. Very unpleasant. He pushes you in taking meals you actually don’t want to because he likes them. I saw him forcefead a head of a scampi to a woman, who clearly didn’t want it, because he thought she had to try it. He talked negatively about another table who took a wine of a cheaper range that he thought was bad wine. The list of insulting annoying behavior is long. The basic quality of the food is good but the preparation is not. At least not the food I got. Squid on the grill: dry and tasteless. Very expensive and overall a bad restaurant experience. If I could give a zero or...

Super fresh, well prepared, very tasty food and with very friendly staff... This was a great lunch after a few hours of walking and beach time on a grey, windy day. We came in late, actually after the kitchen had already officially closed. But if we could order quick, we could still take a seat. We both ordered sardines and received a bit than we asked for. The boiled potatoes and salad are simple but tasty. The sardines were grilled outside. We saw the display when we came in. A drink, a beer and a wine, and a dessert for my girlfriend... everything was good. Perfect lunch for us, and we may very well be back later for dinner. Yep... thumbs up!

We visited on a windy cool night in September. The owner Louis met us upon entering and recommended the Turbot. He also brought me a blanket as it was chilly outside and yet the best place to sit. As a appetizer we had shared the clams which were delicious! We went with the owners recommended fish of Turbot which was delicious! Louis also came to our table to serve us the fish which was fantastic as we had no idea what we were doing! I can recommend the turbot and there is a chef right there to grill your fish for you! For dessert we shared the crème brûlée! I highly recommend Quintel do Peixe as you will not be disappointed!
