The stay with Selina was great! Staff were amazing. They create a great atmosphere at the location and connect with the guest, especially in the evening time. The sitting space in front of the location is always filled with great people and laughter.
Beaches are super-close. 10-30mins, depending on which one you chose. You can rent bikes and surfboards at the location. You can also rent towels for a very good price. Highly recommended.
Rooms were clean and spacious. Each bed has a nice cupboard space you can fit in all of your belongings. There is also an additional shelf and hooks or folding/handing your clothes. Bathroom amenities (shower gel+ shampoo) are a nice touch. This location is quite new, so everything is still in a mint condition. The overall design of the hostel is very cool. Paintings on the walls, structures built from the items sea left on the beach. Very nice touch. There is a large cinema room where you can watch some Netflix and YT on a rainy day. There also is a roof area where you can chill after a busy day. It is extra nice at night as you can see some stars and the panorama of the town.
The kitchen is rather small, but it's great for cooking together and hanging out. You can find all you need there, pans, plates, cutlery, kettle, oven, toaster, microwave and the fridge.
There is a grocery shop just a few minutes walk from the place. You can find their items for making a decent dinner, buy coffee and small snacks + alcohol. There is a larger supermarket to which you can cycle or simply get a cab for 10euro.
Once again this place would not be the same without the staff. They are amazing! All together and individually. I have truly enjoyed my stay there. A big hello to everyone and thank you for making my stay so...
Read moreSelina is a great hostel. Good location and also a meeting point (hangout) for other people around, like locals. So if you're looking to meet new people, this is the place. Making contact was super easy (even when you are a bit scared to take initiative, like me). Guests are mostly intelligent, calm, kind and open people. A lot of young people, which is nice. I myself am 36 years old, but didn't feel too old there, cause people are quite serious about their surfing, work (digital nomads), lifestyle and way of approaching others (friendly and communicative). People are basically there for surfing, having fun (with not too many beers) and good conversation. No drunk or loud noises in the night when you're sleeping. ;-) Reception staff is super friendly and helpful. Everyone of them spoke English very well. The hostel organizes nice activities on a daily basis for free (for hostel guests) like yoga and coloring mandela's. I really loved that. Food is good, especially the warm meals. I only have to points of improvement ;-): The breakfast was the same every morning. I think it might be nice if there were a few more things to choose from. There was one girl there working as a waitress (she was there almost every day, I think) and she looked kind of cranky or annoyed every day. Compared to the other staff, she did not seem very customer friendly. But besides the above to notes, I had a great stay and would absolutely recommend the...
Read moreMy visit to Selina Peniche in June was an enjoyable experience that I would wholeheartedly recommend. It's not just a place to stay; it's a vibrant, eclectic community with a bohemian flair.
Selina Peniche offers more than just a comfortable bed in a clean room. It thrives on the diverse mix of people who come together to share their journeys, the tasty food from its on-site restaurant, and a coworking space that provides ample room and reliable internet.
The charm of Selina lies not in the conventional hotel standards but in the personal experiences it facilitates. You can immerse yourself in the beautiful art that adorns the walls, interact with interesting individuals at the bar, participate in social activities, or even embark on group adventures.
Although a grocery store is a 10-15 minute walk away, this minor inconvenience is easily offset by the unique beach-side living experience Selina offers. During my stay, I shared a room with five others and found my bed spacious and comfortable. The shared restroom and shower facilities were consistently clean and well-maintained.
If you're someone who cherishes quiet solitude, Selina may not be the right fit. It's a space that encourages its residents to step out of their comfort zone, be open, and explore their potential. It's not just a place to sleep, but a place to discover who you are and what...
