Situated across from the railway station on the main shopping street near to restaurants, this hotel represents great value for money. The clean rooms are a little on the small side, but as we only use them to sleep in, I don't see this as a negative. The 4 piece bathroom had plenty of toiletries, a hair dryer and space to hang things. The wardrobe was quite big with a safe and extra blankets and pillows. There was a good size mirror, a small table and chair and a couple of bed side tables. Lighting wad good and the windows were big too. There was a television with English speaking channels and wifi was very good in the bedroom.||Breakfast was good with a choice of muesli and cereals, soft rolls, bread and cake, ham, cheese and preserves. There was a good selection of hot and cold drinks and the coffee was actually quite decent. We stayed in January and it looked like you could eat on the veranda in warmer weather. The hotel staff were very pleasant.||The only negatives were there was no lift, but the staff took our bags to the room and there are only 2 floors after the ground floor. The car park is underground and parking is extremely tight and limited, I would strongly recommend securing a parking place on booking, if you are...
Read moreThe lobby is small and not very inviting, with sort of a mish-mash of furniture and computer for guest use. Oddly enough, the rooms are much nicer than expected after seeing the lobby. The room was a good size with air-conditioning and older furniture, but nicely decorated and with decent linens on the bed. The bathroom was also a good size with nice towels and tile floors and walls. There is an armoire, nightstands and luggage rack to round out the furniture, a bit old but still in decent condition. ||||There is no elevator. There is free underground parking around the corner, but no lift into the hotel from there either. ||||Breakfast was included in the rate. There was a nice coffee machine dispensing espressos, coffees, chocolate milk, hot water and another machine for some kind of juice cocktail. Cereal and milk are provided, along with a nice assortment of breads and cakes, all nicely displayed along with a selection of jams. Cheese, ham and yogurt were...

Reception staff were great and booked a terrain/ boat trip on the Douro within minutes of asking. Gave good advice about where to visit and which restaurants to visit, along with where to go with or without a car.||Breakfasts were excellent and the lady on duty was great and helpful. Imperio is used by tourists a and workers alike so h\as a buzz.||||Just as an aside, met a lovely girl from Taiwan, and English teacher, who was travelling on her own and her next stop was Bordeaux! She was a delight and we wish here all the best...
