A wonderfull moment and a so pleasant dinner here 😊 on the evening of 24/09/2023. We came from Brittany (Breizh celtic land ☝️ end west of France 😉) for a big Road Trip to Portugal. Peso da Régua was our 11th stop , we were following the Douro Valley (5*). We spent an evening dining in this restaurant mainly frequented by locals. Entrance is atypical and walk down untill door opening on the small room downstairs which is a mini bar including the direct sales under glass stalls of suckling pig, veal or pork ribs, cold meats prepared on site for takeaway. Climb few steps on left and then arrive at the dining room. A dining room with a simple and ergonomic but pleasant design, everything was neat and well kept. The young waiter was more than friendly and our exchanges in French, Portuguese and English mixed together were quite fun 😉. Very welcome atmosphere with the locals and we even met the captain , and his chief mate , being in command of one of the Douro cruise ships at berth and who instinctively advised us about wine to choose ! The Master and Commander gave good advice 🍷🫡. As for the main dishes, it was so good because it was simple and hearty. tasty, and the kitchen often opened was to say :Nothing to hide ! We had a picanha fatiada with rice, special sauce and Brazilian-style black beans for me and Entrecosto de Porco with fresh french fries , rice , tomatoes and so on for my Lady... All dishes tasted = 🤩 Simply well prepared and regarding value for money it was the top of our long journey (of restaurants 😉) Be careful here, tradition is always respected. that is to say the choice of half portion or full ☝️and the server encouraged us to validate the half portion and wisely 😄. After that we can only 300% recommend this top local canteen and then yiu can do as we did... Go and enjoy the return flavors to your mouth and get a good digestion at night while walking along the banks of the Douro. ❤️ (Then we returned to Van home...
Read moreDo not accept pets and this is not mentioned on Google About section. After walking under the sun for 40min hoping to find somewhere to eat with a small dog (in the bag), and being rejected in other two restaurants, we got pissed off with the lack of information and care regarding this subject everywhere. Considering this is a common standard in various restaurants in downtown Porto, it's sad to see how such places are still not ready to be inclusive...
Read moreWe were a party of 3 people, we shared the mixed grill which come with salad, fries and rice, with a 1/2 serve of cuttlefish as a shared entree. This was washed down with the house red which was pretty good. We did over indulge in a number of ports, but the food bill was 34 euro and you could not fit in another morsel. An absolute brilliant meal all the food was excellent. Thank you to the staff for a great welcome....
