I stayed at Hostel Procyon back in November of 2019. I had always intended to write a review during those travels but unfortunately never took the ten minutes to do so. Still hoping this review makes an impact for anyone (regardless of age and travel experience) that is considering where to stay while visiting the island of São Miguel. Procyon really is a marvelous place to stay and make your home while exploring the largest island of the Azores. The location is safe and accessible by all the major transportation hubs of the city, and is walking distance to the city center. The common space in the hostel is calm and inviting, while there is still plenty of space for peace and quiet when needed. I had only planned to stay at the hostel for just a few nights, but ended up staying for nearly 2 weeks while I took my time exploring the entire island. Filipe, Mafalda and rest of staff were exceptional hosts. Always welcoming conversation about anything and everything the island (and the country of Portugal in general) has to offer. It is clear they all care deeply about your experience at Procyon, and that they share a mutual passion for exploring and connecting with travelers. Their help and daily advice helped me learn and see so much more of São Miguel than I could ever have expected. Read moreI must say I'm impressed.||When I arrived, they welcomed me in smiling and saying my name. This shows that they really care about their clients. ||||The check-in was great. They took a lot of time to explain us everything we needed to know about the island. ||||Everything looks so fresh and clean. They cleaned the room everyday, even changed our towels and sheets during our 6 days stay. This is a premium service that you don't get in a lot of hostels.||||The breakfast is included in the price and I must say it's better than come of the hotels I've been. They surprise you once in a while with some pancakes and scrambled eggs FOR FREE! I'm gluten free and they provided a different kind of bread for me and always warned me for what I could and couldn't get. ||||They also have a bar, great drinks and very affordable. If you want to get a beer but are too tired to get out, you can go there and chill. They also serve great toasts and...
Read moreEasily the best hostel I've ever been to! ||Not only is this hostel very clean and comfortable, it also has a very cool and creative decor that makes it extra charming. Honestly, this place looks nicer than a lot of hotels I've been to.||Besides looking awesome, the hostel has an incredibly friendly and hospitable staff who went above and beyond to help me make the most of my time on the island. They gave me some great tips on what to do and where to go, and they always made me feel very welcome. I almost felt like I was visiting friends.||The location is pretty good, too, if you're planning to rent a car; the hostel is close to the airport and only about a ten-minute walk away from the center of the city. It's also easy to access without having to make one's way through the narrow streets in the center of Ponte Delgada.||Highly recommended! I'd definitely...
