Coliseu Micaelense — Attraction in Ponta Delgada

Coliseu Micaelense fica situado na cidade de Ponta Delgada na ilha de São Miguel e é a maior casa de espetáculos da Região Autónoma dos Açores. Sendo inaugurada no dia 10 de Maio de 1917, por um grupo de micaelenses, presidido pelo Dr. José Maria Raposo do Amaral. Chamava-se então Coliseu Avenida. Em 1950 foi adquirida pela Companhia de Navegação Carregadores Açorianos, dirigida pelo Dr. Francisco Luís Tavares, que acabara de construir o novo teatro de Ponta Delgada. Passou então a designar-se Coliseu Micaelense e integrou depois a “Cinaçor” da Fundação dos Botelhos de Nossa Senhora da Vida, sendo gerido por António dos Santos Figueira durante cerca de quatro décadas. A partir dos anos 80 do século XX foi sendo progressivamente desativado, mantendo apenas os tradicionais Bailes de Carnaval, até ficar de todo encerrado por avançada degradação das suas instalações. No ano de 2002, a Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada, por iniciativa da sua presidente Dra. Berta Cabral, adquiriu o Coliseu Micaelense e promoveu a maior obra de recuperação da sua história de nove décadas, que decorreu essencialmente durante 2004. A Gala de Reabertura do Coliseu Micaelense, realizada a 30 de Janeiro de 2005, assinalou a inauguração oficial desta obra, a que se seguiram a recuperação dos seus tradicionais Grandes Bailes de Carnaval e a apresentação do primeiro espetáculo da programação inaugural, com o Moscow Classical Ballet.

O Coliseu Micaelense, com capacidade para cerca de 1.300 espectadores sentados, está preparado para corresponder às exigências próprias de todos os eventos socioculturais, podendo funcionar em regime convencional, para espetáculos tão diversos como bailado, teatro, ópera e rock, ou em sistema de pista aberta, para circo, bailes e moda, banquetes e café-concerto, exposições e congressos. A sua dimensão e as suas características fazem, aliás, do Coliseu Micaelense o espaço coberto melhor adequado para os maiores eventos da Região Autónoma dos Açores.

The Coliseu Micaelense is located in the city of Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel and is the largest concert hall in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. It was inaugurated on May 10, 1917, by a group of people from São Miguel, presided over by Dr. José Maria Raposo do Amaral. It was then called Coliseu Avenida. In 1950 it was acquired by the Companhia de Navegação Carregadores Açorianos, directed by Dr. Francisco Luís Tavares, who had just built the new theater in Ponta Delgada. It was renamed Coliseu Micaelense and later became part of the “Cinaçor” Fundação dos Botelhos de Nossa Senhora da Vida, being illuminated by António dos Santos Figueira for about four decades. From the 1980s onwards, its facilities were structurally advanced. In 2002, the Ponta Delgada City Council, on the initiative of its president Dra. A of Reopening of the Coliseu Micaelense, held on January 30, 2005, Galalou publicized this official work, signed by Cabral, acquired the Coliseu Micaelense and promoted the largest restoration work in its nine-decade history, which essentially took place during 2004. The Coliseum, with a conventional capacity for around 1,300 spectators, is prepared for events equivalent to everyone's cultural requirements, and can operate on a regular basis, for shows as diverse as ballet, theater, opera and rock, or in an open floor system, for circus, balls and fashion, banquets and café-concerts, exhibitions and congresses. Vintage venue for concerts, plays and proms. This is an iconic building in the city centre and Well worth a visit for it's architecture and glamour feel (in a São Miguel kind of way). During Carnival there are fancy gala dancing nights with pinters taking their own picnics and dri ks in a traditional basket - Not...

Wir haben den Sylvester Ball 2024-2025 hier verbracht und pro Karte 60EUR bezahlt. Anfangs war es ganz gut und Tanzen war auch möglich (Cha Cha Cha u. Jive) allerdings entwickelte die Musik sich immer mehr in Richtung einer portugiesischen Version einer Ski-Hütten-Party. Viele Einheimische hatten sehr grosse Körbe mit literweise Alkohol (Wodka, Whiskey, etc.) dabei und entsprechend war nach eineinhalb Stunden die Stimmung.
