Foz Club - Algarve — Hotel in Portimão

We wanted our first wedding anniversary to feel truly special, and after much searching, we chose Portugal as our destination. Out of countless hotels we looked into, Foz Club instantly stood out. What we found wasn’t just a great hotel, but something truly exceptional.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and kindness by the wonderful owners, Gonçalo and his father Abílio, not to mention their adorable dog, Yaoki! They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect from the start, and it stayed that way throughout our stay.

We spent a week at Foz Club, and it flew by in the best way. The location is breathtaking. Just a short walk from beautiful beachfront restaurants serving the freshest ingredients, and a stunning hiking trail that leads to quiet, secluded beaches/coves. The highlight for us, though, was the hotel’s very own private beach!!. Bring a snorkel and you’ll discover a whole world of marine life, often with the beach all to yourself.

The hotel itself is spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. One of our favourite spots was the lounge and games area, complete with a pool table, gorgeous chess set, and board games. Also for the more fitness people, there’s a tennis court and gym onsite.

There’s plenty of parking spaces and the location makes it easy to explore nearby towns like Tavira, Faro, and Lagos, all within a short drive. But if you’d rather unwind, the hotel also has a beautiful pool, plenty of sun loungers with sweeping views, and a bar.

We enjoyed our stay at this quirky hotel.The building has no A/C, but the rooms do. There is no restaurant or bar, so be ware. If you're needing food and drink at all times, this isn't the place for you.The only thing you can order is breakfast to your room for a fee and it was amazing! Get the selection for 1, it was plenty for the both of us. Fruit, pastry, breads, eggs, yogurt, coffee and cereal. There is a mini bar with waters, couple sodas and couple beers. The owner and his sons were very welcoming! As was the dog! The best part about this hotel is that you can walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. The pool area was completely empty both days we were outside. It sits on the cliffs and was very peaceful and quiet. We felt like we had the entire hotel to ourselves. If you play tennis, they have a cour and rackets. The property does have parking.

To get to the beach, go to the gate, hang a left. Do not try to head towards the water. Go straight and walk through/past a metal gate. You'll see a large green lawn in front of you(part of the neighboring hotel). Follow the curve of the path to a sign for a cafe. They will ask if you are going to the cafe, say yes! This gets you elevator access down to the beach. Grab a drink and you can use the stairs to get to the beach. Once you're down there are lots of little caves and coves you can set up in. Our stay at this villa in the Algarve was absolutely fantastic, all thanks to the incredibly nice and hospitable host. His recommendations for places to visit greatly enriched our vacation. An additional highlight was the opportunity to walk his dog, a Swiss Shepherd, on a leash, which was a great joy for us, especially since we plan to have such a dog someday. The villa is located on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic, offering stunning ocean views and access to beautiful beaches. The owner even showed us a secret elevator that goes down to a restaurant right on the beach. We also had the option to order wonderful continental breakfasts. Moreover, the owner is an avid tennis fan and is building tennis courts on the property – they may even be available for guests now. Additionally, there is a swimming pool on the roof of the villa, providing incredible views and moments of relaxation. This place is a true paradise for those who want to enjoy the beauty of nature, sports, and extraordinary hospitality. I wholeheartedly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a unique vacation spot in Portugal. It was an unforgettable stay that will remain in our memory for...
