I walked here from my hotel on Alvor beach using the boardwalk and then following a narrow path which led into a development of villas and then followed the signs for the restaurant Canico. Views from above the beach and the surrounding rock formations are spectacular and you are very high up at this point. You can choose to walk down from the top to the beach by a set of steps or if you head towards the restaurant there is a passage way that leads to a lift that will take you down and deliver you at the back of the restaurant from where you can walk out to the beach. Read morePraia da Prainha is this amazing hidden beach that you need to enter through the beach of the three sisters (prai dos Três Irmãos). You climb a rocky path and enter a large hidden beach with amazing views, fantastic waves and a secret secluded feeling although it even has a restaurant (Caniço) in the rock wall at the top of the beach. So very sorry to see that this year it was inaccessible due to a large number of I think dead algae (see pictures) and we weren't able to access or enjoy it. I can't imagine what this must mean for the restaurant Caniço in the cliff wall... Hope it will be available...
Read moreA lovely and intimate beach area. Although there’s some foot traffic, you can find spots far enough from the path to feel secluded. The umbrellas with chairs are reasonably priced at 7 to 8 euros per chair. The sand feels nice, and while the water is cold (common in Portugal), it’s still enjoyable. There’s a café right on the beach, which is convenient. I found this beach more intimate and nicer than Praia Do Ancão.
