O Luís Restaurante & Bar — Restaurant in Portimão

we walked in and asked for a table without a booking. The “host” was an old guy that didn’t look too happy about us ( 3 middle eastern men) trying to have dinner at his restaurant. We asked for a window side table but he told us they were all fully booked (even though the place was almost empty and we were the second group to walk in for dinner). We said ok and sat at a middle table. He asked for our drinks order and when I asked for a wine menu he just nodded at me and said ok (altho I think he was planning on just bringing me any wine he thought appropriate rather than bring the menu). Then he looked at my friend who had come in shirtless off the beach and rudely gestured at him to indicate he needs to put a shirt on. I didn’t think too much of that until we noticed that on the only other table occupied in the place, there was another guy who’d been sitting there without a shirt on before we had even arrived. DO NOT GO HERE! We ordered the sea bass and golden bream, asked for the price which she did not give us, saying it depends on the weight. But she did not come back to us with the weight, but with the dishes. We paid €59 for the sea bass and €56 for the golden bream! After we asked her again she pulled out a small handwritten sign behind the counter that said “€85/KG!!!! When I said that she should’ve informed us when we asked, she started yelling that she did and it was our own fault that all four of us FORGOT it! After we got back to the hotel, we asked the employees if it is a normal price to pay at a beach restaurant, they said they have never ever heard of such a high price for these fish. We even had a seafood platter at another restaurant for €89 that was more than enough for 4 of us!! They...

Service is extremely slow and we had to ask for a bread basket. Waiters could do with being a little more smiley. The girl working there was polite.

Cutlery and cups were a little dirty, fingerprints on them however the food was faultless.

Absolutely delicious and freshly made food made in a place that doesn't look like much but they really have so much to offer. The unobstructed view of the beach here is gorgeous too!

We ordered the garlic prawns, fish soup , octopus and kids grilled fish - everything was outstanding! The taste and food was exactly made to my expectations! 5 stars for amazing food, if they worked on everything else this place would have better reviews.
