I recently stayed at Hotel Porto Interface Trindade By Kavia in Porto, Portugal, during a trip in July 2024 with my 5-year-old daughter and parents. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant, and I feel it’s important to share this so others can make an informed decision.||The Situation|I booked this hotel for one night, as we arrived late in Porto before continuing to Nazaré the next day. Based on my parents’ recommendation, I decided to stay at the same hotel they had booked. The photos online suggested it was a simple but decent option for a short stay.||However, my experience was a stark contrast to what was advertised. Due to a delayed flight with TAP, we arrived at the hotel at around 1 a.m. Upon check-in, everything seemed fine. But when I entered the room, I was shocked:||The room was smelly, dirty, and damaged.|The bed sheets had stains and even holes.|It was unacceptable, even for just one night.||Attempt to Resolve|I checked my parents’ room, which was better—not as good as the pictures suggested, but at least tolerable for the night. I then approached the reception, politely requesting a room change. Unfortunately, the receptionist refused, citing a fully booked hotel. I understand she might have been unable to do anything further, but the situation left me feeling helpless.||Finding an Alternative|Thankfully, I managed to find a room at Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown, just 50 meters away. For only €20 more, I received:||A spacious, clean, and comfortable room.|Top-notch service.|A delicious breakfast.|A 4-star experience that far surpassed the subpar conditions at Trindade.|The Final Disappointment|Before leaving, I requested not to be charged for the room, as the conditions did not match the standards advertised. Despite this, the hotel still charged me €99. This has resulted in an ongoing dispute with my credit card company to address the unfair charge.||Key Takeaway|I’ve learned an important lesson: never trust photos without thoroughly checking reviews. The experience at Hotel Porto Interface Trindade By Kavia was unacceptable, and their failure to provide a room that met even basic hygiene and quality standards is deeply disappointing.||If you’re visiting Porto, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel to avoid surprises. Instead, consider Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown for a reliable, comfortable, and...

Read moreI booked this hotel through Priceline.com and this hotel was listed as 4-Star, located near the metro station and heart of the city. Looking at the picture of the hotel, it did look like 4 Stars, and I had booked this for 2 nights that I was in Porto.||Close to Metro Train Station and location was good, but the quality of the hotel was no more than a Cheap Motel in USA. When I was at the check-in counter, I asked the person if this is the 4-Start hotel I booked, and he had an attitude and said that I should not judge at first impression, I may have a surprise. Sure, when I got to the room, it was filthy, carpet was so dirty that I had to wear my shoes to walk around. Bathroom was small like the room, and dirty, shower glass door had opening on the bottom which flood the bathroom after I took shower. ||||I wanted to checkout immediately and go to another hotel, but I was there for short time, and I would lose more time looking for another hotel and moving to another hotel. I managed to stay the 2 nights, and 7am next morning I immediately left from that hotel.||||I blame Priceline for this, they should have a way to check the quality of the hotel, before they list number of stars for the hotel. This was my 4th time that Priceline had mislead me with incorrect stars and misleading pictures that are photoshop.||||Use caution when booking this hotel or any hotel from Priceline, as you may be in for a big surprise. In most cases we book hotel for couple days of our stay, and this type of mistake spoils our trip and leaves no choice to stay there, rather to shop for another hotel and lose money. I am very disappointed with Priceline for this bad experience for the 4th time. Hotels.com and couple other websites to book hotel are ALL owned by same people that own Priceline. This is just to...
