Monte da Avó Chica — Hotel in Reguengos de Monsaraz

The Monte da Avó Chica is a traditional family run property in the middle of Alentejo region, right at the Monsaraz mountain foot. We stayed there for a night, me and my wife and a friend couple with a 3 years old child, and we just loved it. The family that runs the property are simply amazing, very friendly and kind. The house is huge, a tipical kind of Alentejo house with several rooms (doubles, triples and some independent rooms outside the major house), an inside car park, a playground and some traditional details. Waking up with birds singing surronded by absolutly silence and having that amazing traditional breakfast is something that I have to recommend.||Our room was spacious enough, clean, traditional and modern mixed details, confortable and cozy. Bathroom was large and confortable, clean and traditional too, with excelent shower pressure.||The breakfast is certainly a great plus, tottally homemade by the owners themselfs : several traditional pies (chicken, coconut, honey and olive oil), scrambled eggs with coriander, several types of portuguese sausages (chouriço), juice, coffee and milk, breads, butter, marmelades... fabulous to everyone who enjoys good and traditional food.||The price was great - 55€ for a double with breakfast included, booked by phone, available at their website. Location is great to explore by car the interesting Alentejo region - 3 minutes to Monsaraz (nice traditional Village), 30 minutes to Alqueva (the biggest artificial lake of Europe, with its huge Dam), a couple of hours from Lisbon and some 4 hours from Porto.||The region is simply great to rest, drive, eat, drink and to everyone who loves nature. En arrivant à Monsaraz, nous n'avons pas trouvé des Hôtels avec des places disponibles... Nous avons pris une petite route que allait dans la direction de Telheiro/Ferragudo, et nous sommes tombés sur un panneau qui indiquait ce petit Hôtel... Que belle surprise.... Petit hôtel sympa, les propriétaires d'un gentillesse sans égal, un petit-déjeuner avec des produits locaux, des chambres confortables et propres, rien à dire......

Passei dois dias no Monte da Avó Chica com um amigo e ambos gostámos muito do espaço - estávamos incrivelmente perto do Castelo, do Observatório do Lago Alqueva e da praia fluvial de Monsaraz. As noites foram muito tranquilas e ainda tive o prazer de conhecer uma cadelinha e o seu filho (o fantástico Bolinha) que se derretem com os mimos dos visitantes.
