My wife and I booked in here for 2 nights anticipating a simple but good experience. A view of the sea, nice breakfast, good wines and beers (and a food platter if we desired) while we enjoyed the vise and a special breakfast. That's how booking.com described it but they made out it was more special than our expectations so we could only be happy! Despite our reasonable expectations it was far from it. It's not been renovated. Its damp. Our room had a small hole in the bathroom floor because its rotten. There is no bar nor any choice of drinks. The nice lady who runs the place for the owners has to walk to and from the supermarket for provisions for breakfast. The deciding moment was at breakfast when paint fell off the ceiling onto my plate. The lady host subsequently told me that she has to vacuum the ceiling every day to stop this ( happening more often). ||||It was a sad and disappointing experience and the owner needs to take responsibility as do booking.com for the false description on their website. I've been told I'll be refunded but 2 weeks later I've not been and they have not even replied to my emails which is what upsets me most. If they took responsibility and tried to improve I would not have left this negative review but sadly its the best they deserve. I suggest you...
Read moreThe main attraction of this hotel is the unique, unmatched view of the Atlantic. I could literally look straight into the waves from my window and from the breakfast room. That is why you choose to stay here and yes, the air is slightly damp and the sea air and salt takes its toll on the house and furnishings which are indeed a little frayed around the edges. That is the price you pay for the view or you should stay somewhere else.|My room, the Golden room or Suite as it is called on booking.com was beautifully furnished, modern, comfortable and perfectly clean. However, the bathroom was not the bathroom shown on the pictures which had blue tiles, a bath and sea view. In reality the bathroom was beautiful, modern, with a double shower, but no bath or view.|Pool was nice, good clean.|Breakfast in Portuguese hotels tend to be modest and limited in my experience, this one was above average, which means a good selection of fruit, cereals, toast, cheeses etc. No hot food...
Read moreBreathtaking location, perched over cliffs on western edge of Europe. Every room (out of 8) of this small hotel offers a marvellous view of the Atlantic. Adriano, Soraya and other staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Like many other hotels coming back to life after a tough pandemic year, there is a maintenance backlog- could do with a lick of paint here and there. But very easy to see past that: cliff-top path (an official trail) runs past the front of the hotel so perfect for hikers, nature lovers plus surfers; a dozen good beaches within easy walking distance, plus several good restaurants. Hiking highlights including dinosaur footprints on side of the cliff at Aguda; the extraordinary rocks at Ursa and Adraga beaches; plus a trip to the very pretty tidal pool and beach at Azenhas do Mar a mile away. I should also mentioned the breakfasts of eggs, fruit, chourico bread and home-baked cake etc. And the pod of dolphins that swam past at...
