What a find! An exceptional stay in this small boutique 9 room hotel. |The building - perfectly positioned for all amenities, beautifully restored and decorated in a stylish quirky interior|Bedrooms - our room Oleander (front, ground floor) large and bright. Others have said that the other room at front near the door is a little noisy. Our room was very quiet during our stay. Very comfortable bed and fabulous rain head shower, fluffy thick towels, coffee tea facilities, no fridge but as we used the honesty bar for drinks this wasn't really an issue. Only tip we would feedback to Tavira house is that the position of in room safe on the floor was a bit awkward for our old bones and failing eyesight but we managed fine. I took my own hairdryer, the room did have a small travel sized option.|Breakfast - outside terrace or indoor dining area. Served every morning with a warm smile from Joshi who was exceptional in his service. Consisted of fresh bread rolls, croissants, fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt and a platter of fresh fruit, meat cheese then rounded off by pastel de nata. Every 2nd morning scrambled eggs was also served|Roof Terrace - excellent space with 6 loungers, umbrellas and some casual seating. Area was exceptionally clean and tidy and most of the time during our 5 day stay we had the area to ourselves.|An excellent stay and...
Read moreWe cannot say enough about this very special place. This was our first trip to Portugal and we came to Tavira House on the recommendation of friends who had stayed here previously. The building itself is a historic landmark that Carrie and Terry (the owners) brought back to life! The building used to hold parties and has a very special historical ballroom that has been converted to a lovely lounge and seating area with an “honor” bar for guests. This boutique hotel has 9 rooms so we were able to meet many of the guests at breakfast or in the lounge area. It was a treat to share travel stories and experiences. The on-site staff is amazing and the on-site manager, Filamina, goes above and beyond. We were greeted with a welcome drink and that set the tone for the rest of our stay. It was very warm in Tavira while we were there, but the hotel stayed nice and cool with a lovely breeze. We didn’t use our air conditioner as the breeze kept our room very comfortable for sleeping. The roof top patio is wonderful in the evening too. The entire place is very clean and cared for. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! We hope to come...
Read moreA lovely boutique hotel only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Perfect location on a quiet street with on street parking if you’re lucky enough to find a spot! Lovely welcome on arrival. Nicely restored roof top and communal areas. Very quiet (we were on the ground floor at the front) and perfectly adequate AC. Lovely breakfasts and highly recommended! The Honesty Bar worked well! The bedroom was a bit disappointing … very sparse with no art work to jazz it up a bit and provide a bit of interest. Towels and linen were good quality, great shower and a proper hairdryer! However, I can only give 4 out of 5 as the bed and pillows weren’t at all comfortable. The bed was far too hard, no mattress topper could ever compensate unfortunately. I had backache on the day we left and OH had a stiff neck for 5 days! If you can’t get a good nights sleep it does dampen the experience I’m...
