I have stayed here many times and have mixed feelings about it. The rooms were comfortable but in need of some renovation by the last time I was there. The dinning-room is huge but with a nice atmosphere, at a time with a good piano player. In that same dinning-room I had very unpleasant situations, one of them while at a family reunion with several waiters totally neglecting the table service (keeping away, not looking, totally unavailable) in such a manner that led me to fill a formal complaint. On another occasion, on a hour-changing day (with people still confused about what time it was, really), some staff members tried to prevent some guests from entering breakfast room because they were late, without giving them some tolerance giving the understandably mistaken time. For quite a few years the hotel seemed to have an ongoing problem with personnel and an obvious lack of qualified mid-managers. Still, I rate it 4 stars, I don't even really understand why... It has the potential, it can be OK when everything goes well. Great view from the top floors balconies. Furthermore, it is very central, easy walking to everywhere in the old town and has an easy parking. If only they get it right...

Very nice hotel in Vila Real. The staff was very kind and attentive. Because of the curfew and covid restrictions the restaurant was closed (but the bar is open until midnight-which offer cold and some hot beverages) but we were able to order a delivery via the Glovo app. The room was very nice and comfortable, with a nice comfy bed and with wifi. They also offer free parking and a continental breakfast until 10am. The breakfast was supee nice. They offered fresh fruits, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, some dairy (cheeses and yogurt) as well as eggs and some charcuterie, some spreads and assorted bread (croissant, cereals, plain and what it looked like sourdough) and also some pastries like chocolate croissant and pasteis de nata. Very nice and complete for a continental, the staff super nice in the restaurant as well and the view was lovely. I'd definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Very nice. Impeccably clean. 5 stars service. Just does not have iron, but has laundry service a few hours a day. All the furniture and fittings are are of amazing quality and very well maintained. Food is amazing and great prices. Amazing location. There is a trail on the river nearby. Very central. One of the best places I stayed. Has a parrot that loves talking and always wants people around, but it might be shy if there is too many.

A brilliant hotel overall.||||||Pros:||||The building, the reception, the interiors, the rooms, provided beautiful visuals.||Excellent value for money for the quality of your stay.||The breakfast (included in price) was phenomenal. Good variety.||The room was spacious; lots of space for storing/hanging clothes. Nice spot to sit & work if need.||Nice practical bathroom; sink, mirror, taps and powerful great shower.||The staff were friendly and professional.||Everything was clean and well maintained.||Lovely balcony with fresh views.||Nice art, sitting areas, TV, bar etc for those spending time in the common areas.||||Cons:||||As a couple, we purchased a "double room" as explicitly stated. However despite the Hotel being extremely empty at the time of stay, we still only got a room with two single beds pushed together with individual bed sheets. This made it awkward to try and fix the sheets to sleep together. The confirmation email stated under special requests - bed preference - "Standard Double Room: 1 double"||||Only found out the swimming pool is closed from 15 Oct 2019 - 1 Jun 2020 after the confirmation email - their website is also quite broken currently to look up anything on their site.||||Bathroom - no air refreshener sprays - didn't see any ventilation..? Side of the bathtub built a puddle when showering, it would overflow and leak on the floor. (Room 217)||||One of the two glasses in the room had candle wax stuck the the bottom corners - I assume previous guests lit a candle, poorly washed it and the cleaning service didn't think the glass was used and did not clean it? We asked reception to replace it.||||The room minibar was a little expensive.||||Would prefer plastic bags in the bin to place rubbish in. (Don't think cleaning staff want to hand scrub bins?)||||A closet light didn't hard but was not an issue in the slightest.||||English on all leaflets was a bit comically poor.||||||||The only real thing that bothered us was the two single beds in a double room. Don't get the wrong idea, it was an exceptional room and place to stay. Great for price, high quality, fancy. A brilliant hotel and highly...

Perched precariously on the slopes of a steep gorge in the centre of Vila Real sits this marvellous hotel. Beautiful outside and inside it is a treat for the guest. My room was spacious, stylish, and practical. It has a fridge. The bar man was excellent. The restaurant is delightful and my heartiest congratulations to the chef and kitchen team who, for our three night stay, excelled themselves in producing a limited buffet menu of exceptional quality. (Whole) Fish, meat, rices, etc. I've eaten a fair few hotel buffet dinners and this was the equal of any of them. Congratulations to the kitchen team. Reception staff were exceptional too, very professional. Some quirky wall art around too which was lovely, interesting and stimulating. The icing on the cake for my stay - and cementing this hotel's reputation - is that I dropped my wallet in the bar area early one evening. There was no bar staff on duty at that time and there was only one customer in the bar area who was watching football on TV. After I had gone, he saw the wallet, stood up, picked it up, and... immediately took it to reception who called me straightaway to collect it. What a fantastic guy. I was effusive in my thanks to both him and the excellent reception staff. Thank you all very much....
