Cardoso — Restaurant in Vila Real

We were visiting this place almost frequently. Then mid July, the emigrants came back from France and Switzerland for their holidays. And we became 2nd class guests. They even refused to serve us wine and water until our friend arrives (we booked a table for 3 and she had a delay of 20 mins). Will never ever visit them and let them wait for their preferred customers to arrive for the remaining 11 months.

Franceshina is by and away the most popular dish at this local restaurant. Oddly, the sign hanging over the front door said "snack food", but the courses served were anything but snack size. The sandwiches, rice bowl, and plate of fries were HUGE. We were shocked at how much food came out, and almost felt bad for taking half of it to go.

If you find yourself in Vila Real and want the Franceshina the locals praise as the BEST around, go no further...

Never had worse service at a restaurant here in Vila Real. Absolutely ridiculous, we we’re celebrating our friend publishing an article and they pretended like the other guests were bothered by our presence and acted like we were being loud, but we we’re a 16 person group we weren’t doing much noise. They just complained because they felt offended by us. I won’t be returning and I hope no one has the displeasure of returning...
