Read moreMy experience at VIP Hotel was very mixed. The positive first: the hotel looks really nice both outside and inside, my room was big an stylish with a good bed which I slept well in and there was even a bathtub. The checkout experience early in the morning was excellent, I was offered coffee, help with booking a taxi to the airport, asked if I had enjoyed my stay and told that they were happy I stayed with them and hoped to see me again - everything (and a bit more) than I expected from the service at a five-star hotel. Unfortunately, that wasn't the level of service I experience when I checked in the night before. I was greeted kindly by the security guard outside, but the lady in the door asked me if she could help me with anything, and when I said I was checking in, she said "ooh", and it kind of made me feel like I wasn't welcome. Granted, I wasn't well-dressed and maybe looked at bit tired as I came directly from 7 hours flight and afterwards spent 5 hours in the dessert, and was supposed to go back to the airport early the next morning. But when I booked the hotel I wasn't informed of a dress-code and I shouldn't matter how you look, as long as you behave according to hotel regulations and pay for your stay. Anyway, the lady who then checked me in was fairly slow, helping two other costumers at the same time - even though I was there first - and didn't really give me any information about my stay as I'm used to from 3-5 stars hotels (e.g. with/without breakfast, check out time etc.). Maybe she was tired but she didn't show the service-mindedness I'm used to from the hotel receptions. When I got to my room, there was no information about the hotel, the tv could only show a hotel info-channel (and I'm pretty tech-savvy, I tried a lot to get other channels), there was no information about room-service and no number to the reception. I tried random numbers, but none worked. I then had to walk down to reception again, and was pointed to another counter, where I could order dinner. When I ordered, I was told it would take about 35 minutes to make my food. It was late, I had not had lunch so I was really hungry, and unfortunately I ended up waiting more than an hour for my food. When it finally arrived, it was cold. When I pay 175 QAR for something, I at least expect it to be hot and it wasn't. I usually book a 5-star hotel-room to get that extra service and convenience, and I only think VIP Hotel succeeded in...
Read moreBy far the worst hotel we've stayed in Doha. Do not stay here!!! Great facilities with no soul.
The reception made us feel it's our problem the room was not ready when we checked in and waited for approx 10-15min.
Got in the premise at approx 1AM. The room was not as per our booked room. When i called to confirm, he told us we have to change room again at 10-11AM. They let our booked room occupied before we checked in. We booked from 19th and arrived 20th early in the morning .
The hygiene of the room was unimaginable. We have to wait in the lobby again for them to change the mattress and pilow covers. Urine and faeces stains in the toilet bowl. Hair all over the bathtub, floor carpet, pillows bed, counter top. There's only one teaspoon and it's used. Linen were not changed. The towels were the only ones changed. The carpet was full of stain and not vacuumed. The reception was the worst. Kept saying the place was full, he's alone and there's nothing he can do about it. When we waited in the lobby, we observed he would shake hands with civilians who just came and hand over a key card. The other person then said "don't forget to bring drinks in our room".
We wanted out and reimbursed yet the reception said its non-refundable.
We couldn't take it anymore and tried to leave. Suddenly there was a room vacant and given us an upgrade. (The upgrade was our original booked room as seen online and we paid for it).
The A/C was directed to the bed which was uncomfortable.
The landline cant be used for out side local calls.
I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday. Yet They dont have candles and the cake was too dry. At 1:15 AM, someone came knocking, woke us up and asked for a signature for the bill.
The lobby was noisy and smelled cigarettes at night where there seemed to have lots of vices.
In 7 days we stayed, the linens were never changed despite the fact that we kept telling them to have the room cleaned before we left the area.
The only person who made a difference was the bellboy Zakir in the night shift and the housekeepers, gym and pool attendant who constantly interacted with guests.
They should be in-charged. Not a single manager/supervisor appeared. Google only posted 2 photos. The...
