Moscow Home-Hostel — Hotel in Khamovniki District

I have seen many hostels but this was by far the worst one! ||At least the bed was clean but that's it with the positive stuff!||The bathrooms were really, really disgusting and dirty, so dirty you would feel even worse after showering.||We lived in another house next door and the stairway hall smelled like pee and smoke and there were cigarettes in the floor everywhere. I suppose it was a normal house and the hostel rent an apartment in there (the neighbourhood was really creepy too). ||The "crowd" in the hostel was exclusively russian and relatively old (30+), after spending two Nights we suppose that they weren't proper "guests", but rather really Living in the Hostel!! They were there all the Time, cooking, putting their stuff into cupboards, never Leaving the Hostel. Also, they were extremely noisy, switching on some kind of techno music at 7 am and smoking all the time inside the hostel!||Furthermore the men were really annoying and Penetrating!||Moreover, i reckon they are faking all their good reviews and even their "awards" at the wall of the reception with a letter of the british embassy thanking the hostel for taking care of their People (no firm)?! with a company of 5 we had our own dorm. If i had to share, i would have gone somewhere else. Nothing terrible happened, but this is mostly longterm day laborers and the occasional tourist. Think smoking spitting underwear baltic men outside. there are two entrances, only one of wich has a reception building. We didnt shower the two nights, dirty washrooms. kitchen stuff was ok. location good enough. Staff was friendly but not really capable. They cannot do the visa registration themselves, so when we checked in on the weekend and left 2 nights they told us they wouldnt have it yet. Like any baltic state, they are friendly enoug, always say yes to requests but no follow through. we got our registration in the end but we were glad to be gone.||Decent enough if you want cheap accomodations and wont be there at all. if not, look for somewhere else, spend a few dollars more, moscow is only a 2 night city anyway so it wont matter. ||Also: if they offer to send a taxi to the airport for a pickup you might be pleasantly surprised but it will NOT be there..You have to haggle the so called taxi services, then when you do arrive at the hostel you may spend a few hours on the sidewalk, the open when they want to, not when...
