Garden Ring Hotel — Hotel in Meshchansky District

This hotel is a lie. The photos are a lie. The rating is a lie. I've seen better roach motels in terrible places. This hotel is overpriced, the photos of rooms, etc are all staged.

In reality, this hotel is infested with vermin and is a biohazard due to the water damaged walls, urine stained mattresses and mattress pads. Everything was filthy. The rooms had a stench that reminded me of a very poor hospice.

Complained of course, thinking the urine soaked, filthy, stinky, moldy room was a fluke. They claimed no other rooms available at first. After 30 minutes they admitted to another room being available. Which was equally as bad as the first of or worse.

Took from midnight to nearly 4am to get some of our money back and book a different hotel. Had to pay for the taxi ourselves. No accommodations made. Staff demanded pictures of the filth.

How this hotel has received such a rating beyond 0 stars is beyond me.

God forbid you have a compromised immune system and/or lung/breathing issues or sensitivities. Black mold is deadly even to healthy people. Who knows what other airborne contagions float about.

The only plus was that the pillows were clean.

Rooms fine, large foyer with bar with a lovely attendant who happily dispenses snacks, coffee, tea and alcohol.||Dining room crowded and completely inadequate for the number of guests at breakfast. The dining and seating areas have large couches, benches, chairs and tables BUT they are too low and incredibly uncomfortable. What we would call 10 minute chairs. But the breakfast itself is lovely.||Went into the dining room for lunch where I has an amazing salmon and avocado salad with the room almost to myself. Fine damask table cloths with gleaming silver and flatware.||Back to the dining room for dinner where I had a lovely stroganoff, Rob roast duck leg with vegetables and Geraldine grilled chops. When they turned up they looked brilliant there were 6 chops on a platter with roast vegetables. The chops looked really nice and she said they tasted great. We had a glass of wine each while Geraldine had water. We finished with ice cream. Fabulous meal also in a semi deserted dining room so it is only breakfast that the room is inadequate for.||They have luggage storage and plenty of comfortable seating in the foyer...

Sin duda una gran experiencia si quieres entender por qué algunas personas en Rusia tienen reputación de ser deshonestos. Una vez que me dieron la habitación noté que no había aire acondicionado, en su página de internet dice que si pero no es cierto. Llamé a recepción para que lo arreglaran. Unos minutos después llamaron para decirme que el técnico ya se había ido así que sería mañana. La solución que me propusieron fue abrir la ventana. Pasé una pésima noche porque entraron moscos y tampoco me podía tapar porque los edredones y las sábanas son 100% polyester lo que los hace imposibles. Al día siguiente pedí hablar con el gerente. Creo que no había visto un gerente mas prepotente e incapaz. Me prometió que ese día quedaría arreglado el aire acondicionado no sin antes decirme que en mayo y junio ningún hotel en Moscú tiene aire acondicionado. Por supuesto que le aclaré que con mentiras no solucionarían su problema. Historia breve, estuve tres horribles noches y jamás lo arreglaron, diario que decían que ya lo iban a arreglar con una actitud arrogante. Lamentable porque tanto el gerente como Ana solamente dijeron mentiras durante mi estancia. El gerente propuso compensarme con dejarme hacer un late check out... En verdad creo que nunca entendió que yo no me quería quedar mas horas en una habitación sin aire acondicionado, por supuesto que no lo acepté. Las habitaciones son un infierno porque no tienen aire acondicionado. Los moscos no dejan dormir. ||||Finalmente, pasé mis últimos días en un Hilton. Maravilla llegar a un hotel donde no te mienten, donde te dan lo que pagas (en efecto, el aíre acondicionado funciona). Es una pésima idea hospedarse en hoteles que son exclusivamente rusos. Estás atrapado en un pésimo, hostil, pobre e hipócrita servicio. ||||El wifi es pésimo, tienen dos redes pero en mi habitación la señal era muy pobre. Terminé comprando una sim card... ||||Por lo que vi, este es un hotel enfocado en el mercado ruso parlante. Es decir, aquellos que quizá no conocen como SI funcionan las cosas en otros lados y saben lidiar mejor que yo con las mentiras.||||Además, es un hotel que no está cerca de nada. Esta fue mi primera vez en Moscú así que me dejé llevar. Todo lo que realmente vale la pena de Moscú está cerca de la Plaza Roja. Este hotel está a 3.2 kms de distancia. Es decir, siempre vas a tener que usar el metro (que es uno de los mas baratos, bonitos y eficientes del mundo), Uber (super barato) o el camión (pésimo). Si no te quedas a 500 mts de la Plaza Roja, debes usar transporte público, entonces quédate en hoteles donde tengas la confianza que son honestos. ||||Por cierto, usé Hotel Tonight para reservar el hotel. Igualmente no resolvieron nada. Mala idea reservar en un hotel 100% ruso a través de una empresa americana. Si pueden, jamás usen intermediarios y reserven directo. Esto tampoco significa que este mal hotel hubiera...
