GOROD'Patriarshie Hostel — Hotel in Presnensky District

This place is horrible. Its location is amazing though. Please don't believe in the reviews. I had to review this place to inform others. First of all, this seems to be a family business and the receptionist does not understand a word of english. This place is not legal or official. According to the Russian law, all the foreigners need to get registered by the accomodating party. I used Google translate several times and the receptionist confirmed that she registered me when this was not the case (I found this after). I may be at risk of paying fines and have problems at the immigration border. The place itself is dirty and small. The reception is between the shared toilets and kitchen. You have to pass through the kitchen to go to the shared showers. The shared showers are unisex as well as the toilets. The infrastructure quality is very bad. This is a dirty and uncomfortable place. It is cheap but not worth it. I stayed here for 5 nights so I know how it is and I generally travel on a very tight budget. Also the place itself it is hidden inside an apartment block which is difficult to find. All in all I would give to this one star for the location . Disgusting...

I really can't understand why 5 stars are rated to this hostel? This is just animal nest. Dormitory smells sooo badly, I bought a toilet air freshener to stay. During my staying, room is never cleaned. Under my bed, dust has piled up thickly. Because hostel located half under ground, that's why always dark even daytime, however, guests are not allowed to turn on the room light. Why? hostel staff told us to use phone light. Towels in the kitchen and toilet are not exchanged often. Usually, hostel services tea and coffee. There is a great coffee machine at reception, there is no tea bags for guests. To find receptionist is very difficult. Most of time, reception is empty. Good point is bed has no bug. Seriously i recommend not...

So we stayed 2 days and fully communicated with the manager at the desk via google translate. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly in a pristine neighborhood. It is only a 15 minute walk to Red Square area and nice Cafes. We even saw the ballet close by at the Novoya Opera and a concert at the Moscow Conservatory...all within 15-20 minute walk! We were set to leave for the airport 5am and the manager woke up, called the taxi and even walked us out to the taxi. We had a safe and economical 45 minute ride to the airport for 1000 rubles and we made sure to give the driver a tip! Thank you for the great customer service! I highly recommend...
