Super relaxing atmosphere, very mellow, good service. They have a diverse menu, with various appetizers, entrees, salads, seafood, strong selection of veggie options, and both local and imported beef. You can get a tomahawk steak, or caramelized pork. They have two types of burgers. I had the Louisiana BBQ burger. Super fresh. I asked for it medium rare, à point. And it came that way. That was surprising. Usually burgers just come well done no matter what you ask for. Excellent cocktail menu. Really, Really good. Margaritas to zombies. I had an apple margarita, best I have had in Senegal. And a Vanilla sky, Vodka and lemon, it was perfect. Had the gnocchi. Sort of a small portion but perfectly plated and tasty (please increase the portion. Gnocchi is cheap). You can sit poolside or by the bar, there is a main dining room. They have off street parking, high walls. Super discreet place. If you want to get away from Dakar, and have a civilized drink and dinner, check this place out. You’ll forget you’re in the middle of a loud bustling city. Clean restrooms and off street gated parking! Haven’t checked out the rooms yet. Next time.
Second time I visited. Nice terrace hotel bar and restaurant. Seats by the pool relaxing atmosphere. Happy hours and off street parking. Was a bit disappointed this visit
I ordered the steak on potatoes gratin, and purée, the burger, and guo bao. The steak was tasty but super chewy. I ordered it medium rare. The gratin was oily and the purée was just paste. Would have liked to swap the purée for veggies. Didn’t seem like an option The burger was over done. Dried out. Only had one bite told the waitress. Nothing came of it. And the fries tasted like heated up frozen fries. The guo bao was very good. I ordered a margarita, I never saw it. The staff was friendly but seemed fragmented. Not consistent. Would have really liked that margarita. Specially since is was happy hour. Once the food was served, no one came back until we...
Read moreWe were blown away by how nice this place was – a veritable oasis in a busy, noisy city. Very trendy and modern with a laid back vibe and African feel. The location in Ngor is great, close to many points of interest, with lots of restaurants and convenience stores located within about 5-minutes walk. The hotel staff were all great, very friendly and welcoming with good English. The rooms are all individual chalets with private courtyards set in African gardens – plenty of privacy. Our room was spacious and modern with all the amenities you’d expect – AC, coffee maker, fridge, TV, hairdryer, etc. The Wifi internet was super fast and we enjoyed the complimentary nuts and coconut cakes. Great bathroom/shower, plenty of space. Everything was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were surprised to find a relatively well-equipped gym on site, complete with 3 good-quality cardio machines (elliptical, bike, & treadmill), a small selection of dumbbells, and a plate-loaded multigym/safety rack. Also a few benches and other odds and ends. We had some great workouts here. The pool and restaurant are very attractive and trendy. We enjoyed our excellent daily poolside a la carte breakfasts, and ate an evening meal here as well – excellent burgers! There are a few friendly felines roaming the property as well. Overall we had an amazing stay and can’t really find anything negative to say. We would love to stay here again and recommend it to...
Read moreStayed and dined at Boma during my stay in Senegal. Hotel Boma isn’t located downtown but more in local area filled with shops and the hustle and bustle of local living. It is a tad bit far (~20 min taxi with light traffic) from the downtown and main tourist attractions. But overall my stay was very pleasant. The pool area is beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. The restaurant on site has some really good Senegalese staples and some international cuisine as well.
I must say the staff at Boma were so incredibly kind and accommodating. They made sure my stay was a pleasant one. I rate this hotel 3 stars though because my hotel arranged airport shuttle never showed twice. I landed in Dakar at 2 am and since I was arriving in the middle of the night I wanted a dependable/trustworthy transport. But the Boma Hotel shuttle never arrived and I had to find a taxi at 2am. Then when leaving Dakar I arranged a hotel shuttle from the hotel to the airport and yet again the shuttle never showed. I almost missed by flight because the front desk attendee kept promising that the driver would show and an hour later he never did. I yet again had to take a taxi. The hotel manager was there overhearing my frustrations and yet did not a single thing to make it right. That was deeply disappointing. With the airport transfers never showing for both rides it left a poor taste in my mouth...
