JPAD — Hotel in Dakar

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE PLEASE AVOID!!! I had the utmost displeasure of staying at this motel! It was so bad so much so that I had to leave the next day! The malicious, rude, arrogant, racist, ignorant and unwelcomed owner not only charged me for 2 nights but resisted to even offer me a partial refund!!! I am well travelled and I have never been in such a filthy, ran down motel and I called it that because it's not a hotel as it doesn't meet the requirements. First, the host was unwelcoming as there was no greetings, farewell. Second, he proceeded to question the validity of my passport as it wasn't genuine! You would think for a motel owner he would be accustomed into seeing different passports, nationalities and if he is not he should be respectful and seek to educate himself about it but I can only conclude that it attest to his ignorance being confined to knowing France though he is running a business all the way to Senegal precisely Dakar!!! It's just the irony for me and the insult on my own continent!!! Third, the room itself was appalling. Let's list the issues and I have attached pictures as receipts: The air conditioning was not working properly The WiFi was very slow, though I was on the first floor. The shower was mouldy and dirty. Looks as though it has been used for a week! Upon entering the room, it had a stench The plugs were just not wired properly which is a safety issue He provided used dirty towels and the soap dispenser is corroded if you touch it you might catch tetanus or something The walls have been scribbled all over so they are filthy, I thought I was in a nursery The room had cobwebs I mean the list is long but you get the point... In a nutshell, those nice pictures that you see online don't expect to get the same standard on arrival more like 10 years...

😊: The position was perfect and room pretty clean. 😢: I didn’t like that they gave to me one room was not the one I chose on booking, it was twice smaller and without private balcony as mentioned, and the guy at reception once I arrived he told me that there is not “luxury room” because all the rooms are same to not make me notice the difference from the room I booked. But the rooms were different each other and they were having different prices as you can see on booking, above all the room I booked existed, I saw it in person and they just gave to someone else, which is okay for me if you don’t have available or u dont give to me for any type of reason but just say the truth, be honest ad above all it was correct to give to me the difference of price due to fact the one I chose was not the same price of the one they gave to me. Be careful drinks are not included in the breakfast price. And pay attention if the room they gave to you is the same...

Beautiful hotel that exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind (even with my dog which is very rare in Dakar). For 4.000 they will do your laundry, which I think is a very fair price. The room was well equipped, clean and comfortable with a balcony, TV and closet. The bathroom is quite large. Lots of natural sunlight during the day with blackout curtains for the night. It’s in a good location in Ngor. You can easily go to Ngor beach or get a taxi for 1.000-1.500 to Almadies. It’s about 200-300 meters from the main road so if you need a taxi you will have to walk to get it. This didn’t bother me, but it may be inconvenient for some.
