So very very disappointed. I was so excited to stay in Slovakia , was there to watch my grandson race in Banska Bystica European ,under 18 championship. As I walked through the doors of the hotel , I thought this is lovely ! But as I walked into my tiny single room, after a long journey, , I sat on the bed and cried . It was overpoweringly hot , no air conditioning,on a crossroads which was noisy with window open and sun beaming into room , I thought I would die if I slept there,( dramatic , i know )but I could hardly breath it was so hot. I went to reception and told the lovely young receptionist the problem , unfortunately no alternative rooms available , well rooms free but not cleaned , I said I would be happy to wait , but told that was not an option . I was given an inadequate electric fan , that was as good as nothing . After a cold bath and no sleep next morning, I went to reception again and said I couldn't stay in that room again , I told receptionist it was too hot and dirty , the pillow was disgusting . After she came to room to look , I was moved to a room on the back of building. Still no Aircon , but at least on back of building, so not quite so apresingly hot, and no busy road outside of window. I suppose my biggest gripe is that I paid the same as my son and his partner and their friends, they had air conditioned suites , I was stuck in a dirty single room for the same price they paid for beautiful suites . It was a trip of a lifetime for me , that was truly spoilt by a terrible room that I dreaded going back to each night. Such a shame , such a lovely location and such a nice receptionist. Just bad...
Read moreThe hotel had a good atmosphere. The public spaces were clean and well looked after. There was no feeling of "faded grandeur" that you sometimes get in hotels that haven't been properly looked after. The room was nice, clean, had plenty of power sockets (unlike some older hotels). Breakfast was good and you could get an omelette or scrambled eggs freshly made to order.|But it had some major failings ...| 1) The room had no curtains, only net and limited blinds - fortunately I had a eye mask from overnight flights which I really needed otherwise I'd have been waking up at dawn. |2) There was a shower head in the bath but it was mounted at chest-height so you had to hold it in your hand all the time you were using it. |3) There was no air-conditioning - not an issue in November but would have been a deal-breaker in July and August. |4) Reception was unstaffed in the morning, you just left your key on the desk and left. |5) One side of the hotel faces onto a main road at a junction so there would be lots of noise from vehicles stopping at the lights and pulling away. The receptionist when I arrived was evasive about the traffic noise in the room, fortunately their supervisor came by and allowed her to move me. I'm not sure I would have got a quieter room without the...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 days and couldn't sleep a single night. The mattresses in the small room were very uncomfortable and worn out. The sheets were clean but the matraces not! The room's furniture has long seen better days. The windows don't seal properly and let in not only cold air but also noise from the busy street in front of the hotel. There are burn marks on the carpet and table. The bathroom is accompanied by a stale smell of sewage or who knows what.. In the evening, the hotel bar turns into a disco club and the booming sound of music combined with loud conversations of drunk bar guests standing on the sidewalk in front of the hotel ensure zero chance of falling asleep before 3 AM. On other days, the entire hotel restaurant is booked for some private event and you have to go somewhere else for dinner. The hotel's location (questionably) and the helpful and friendly staff are the only positives, but they cannot compensate for the other big negatives. It was my first and last stay...
