Definitely the only place to stay in Izola. I decided to book direct since I had the flexibility to walk into town on my drive from Rovinj, Croatia back to Ljubljana, so I walked in the front door only to be greeted by the sweetest person on Earth, Breda, who speaks perfect English and many other languages. If you book direct they have more flexibility to accommodate special requests. She easily made my decision to stay that night and an extra night very easy. You absolutely MUST see this town lit up for Christmas and Hotel Marina is perfectly located to take a stroll to the right and see the stunning mountains and in the evening a stroll to the left to see the center lit up like a Winter Wonderland (truly). The children were ice skating and Christmas music playing. With such a rushed agenda to see “the Balkans” in 3 weeks this was a perfect relaxing gorgeous surprise of a stop over on the way back. I wish I could stay longer. Thank you Hotel Marina....

Hotel Marina is located right on the waterfront at Izola, and 20 minutes from Piran. We had a King Superior room, which was fine for us (2 adults and one child). It had a huge balcony with sunloungers on it and a view of the marina and the sea. The hotel is just a few metres from the main swimming area and a short stroll to the centre of Izola, which is a pretty little town with a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants. We didn't need to try any of these because the jewel in the crown of Hotel Marina is the restaurant, which serves fantastic seafood. We ate there every night because it was so good! The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful and welcoming, and were very kind when our son was injured in the sea. We stayed 2 nights. I had hurt my leg earlier in our trip (in Croatia), and it wasn't getting better. I had severe pain and difficulty walking. We had a free day, so I decided to go to the local hospital to get it checked out. The hotel receptionist (Nikola) could not have been more helpful. He drove me to the hospital. He spoke to the receptionist to make sure she understood my problem. He arranged to pick me up afterwards, took me to the local pharmacy, and then drove me back to the hotel.
