I had a lengthy business trip and had some real highs and lows during this trip. Premium price paid, expecting a premium in return!|Phoned the hotel at short notice, to request taxi shuttle from airport to hotel. Norman’s Tours, what a top bloke, very friendly and made the journey to the hotel a pleasant experience. |First impressions of the hotel were good, warm welcome, friendly staff. The bed was very comfortable and probably one of the best sleeps on my travels, so 5⭐️ for the bed. But in the rooms things are looking very tired, shower door didn’t close and filled the floor with water and fixtures have been damaged and repaired a few times. My sink fell out of its fixings one morning (bit of a shock). Move to another room, again bed great, fixtures tired, window in terrible state, knew when the wind was blowing, the curtain would blow in. |Now onto the facilities |High speed internet? Only high speed if you are on the old dial up internet, very poor for a business venue. One weekend no WiFi at all, extremely frustrating, made it a very long weekend. When the WiFi was working it could just about manage average tasks. |Gym|A stepper, 2 bikes and a few weights, few times no water or towels and no cleaning materials to clean or sanitise equipment after use. Small room, does this pass as a gym 🤔. |One day there was no water, had to go to work without a shower (after using the exercise equipment) not happy at all, not happy with the response from the hotel. |It’s not the employees fault, this was the best part of the stay and they were ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, everyone was so friendly and made my stay bearable. |From what I experienced from a premium brand I would score the hotel lower than average, but the hotel staff really gave a reason to make me smile...
Read moreFirst stay for us at this hotel. Conveniently situated close to Selborne College, which is where we needed to be for school sport. Room was on the 4th floor. 2 double beds, a family room. Beds were comfy and clean. The room was slightly dated (with a hideous carpet) but it was clean and comfy and perfect for our needs. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower and loads of soaps and shampoos etc. Towels were thick and clean. Shower could have done with a bit of a scrub with some bleach - but overall the bathroom was clean and well stocked. Its an old hotel and I think its being upgraded floor by floor. Reception staff were friendly. The reception area is pretty with the most beautiful orchids on an entrance table. The diningroom area is also attractive and the breakfast was divine. The hotel is connected to the mall via a corridoor and the mall has numerous places to eat and things to do. There are movies and a games arcade with rides etc. My only gripe was that there was a very noisy, rude bunch of people who came into our passage at 4am and woke us all up. But thats also happened to us in EL at a B & B a year or so ago, so its not really a reflection on the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we needed to. A word of warning - if you are travelling to EL from PE, take the coastal route and watch out for goats and other animals on the road. It was a nightmare drive via...
Read moreI had a 3 day stay at the hotel and with a bit more maintenance and attention to detail it could capture the beauty of East London given that it is well located & enjoys breathtaking views.
I arrived at night and had quite a few bags so I needed to move from the guest parking to the foyer with ease however this was a struggle because the elevator was not working. To inflate the situation, staff were wheeling empty bag trolleys right past me once I reached the drop off area.
Check in was quick and easy, I particularly enjoyed being on the 1st floor which is closer to reception because the door cards deactivate each time there is loadshedding :. Need multiple reactivations.
The queen room is spacious, bed and pillows are extremely comfortable and I love that the Wi-Fi is always on!
Breakfast was good however on the second day we did not enjoy the omelette, it tasted like the cheese was off. I would recommend their lunch though. The chicken pasta is delicious and the portion is generous.
Lastly, restaurant tables are not well kept and it is common to get seated at a table with no cutlery.
My overall experience was decent and I would go back but I would not be expecting Boardwalk hotel or Table Bay hotel standards although they’re all...
