Panarottis Hemingways — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

Took my family to Panarottis, Hemingways last night as we had not been there in a long time. 4 meals ordered. The only one that was ok was the pasta dish. The other 3 meals were 1 x fillet steak and 2 x chicken schnitzels. The fillet was so encrusted with black peppercorns that my son could not eat it. The plate arrived with just the steak and a portion of pale, insipid looking chips. No garnish to make the plate attractive. The chips were so pale they looked like they had just sniffed the oil for a few seconds. The plates with the chicken schnitzels looked the same, just the schnitzels and the chips, nothing to make the plate look attractive at all. I commented that the take-away food from a local chicken drive-through was more pleasing to look at. Some people at work today said to me:... "Well. when you go to a pizza-pasta restaurant you should never order things like steak as it is not their speciality, but I find that to be a weak excuse. If the restaurant can't produce something worthwhile then they should rather remove it from the menu and stick to what they can do. The full bill came to R638.00....

Waited a week for our first visit to Panarottis.. Service was great. Friendly and helpful. The restaurant is big inside and decorated for the festive season. Spotless clean and precise but atmosphere is cold. The server suggested the basic special, but we decided on the "gourmet panarottis special":Ham,salami, olives, mushrooms and pineapple. We sat down while waiting. Very small spaces between the seating and tables. Couldn't wait to get home. What a disappointment. No sight of mushrooms and just a few pieces of pineapple. We weren't given the option of thick or thin base but the base was nearly wafer thin and difficult to hold, as it snagged. Don't even want to go to the cheeses(or the lack thereof) Everything bùt gourmet. As people who love trying out different restaurants & dishes(love pizza) thìs was a shocker. I will definitely not be back for the pizza, but might try out...

Great service. Pizza is awesome and the Rum (Captain Morgan) is always top shelf.

Food arrived under 6min and was fresh and crisp.

You get a true friendly South African vibe from the staff, like they happy to be serving you. It doesn't get better than this.

Update 24/05/2023

Service is now a flat zero. Upon entry, I'm told to sit wherever I want and then I'm completely forgotten about 😂. No menu, no offer of something to drink and they weren't busy at all. I doubt it that the staff noticed that i left after 15min.

Came to Cafe Bella instead. Got helped immediately, got coffee in the first two minutes and I'm already updated on the progress of my pizza.

Sorry Panarotti's, but I just found a business that is customer...
