Hemmingways mall is the place of memories. Throughout all of the years that I have been in East London, I ha e always been to Hemming ways. That means since birth. Every time I visit Hemming ways I am reminded of all of the outings and gatherings I have had and about how much it has changed and fascinated me. There is plenty of shopping space and enough bathrooms to accommodate all of its visitors. The parking area's are great as well. I enjoy the courtyard with its benches and waiting area. The venue is awesome visiting for concerts and shows and the cinnies are awesome two. However there is plenty of room for improvement starting with the seating. We have to walk far to get to some of the shops we need to visit and end up being too tired when we get there. I feel sorry for the elderly who need to get things done. Every shop has sanitizer which is quite annoying, but something we have to adhere to for health and safety concerns. Good thing is that there is a parking ticket machine at every entrance so that when we exit we don't walk far to pay our tickets. The upper parking area tends to get very full though. They also need to change the flooring at the cinemas because I slipped whilst being pregnant, but luckily management at the cinemas was amazing and...
Read moreI assume the architects were wishful thinkers. The mall is big, modern but a rambling run of retail that stretches from coast to coast. Yeah, you feel as if you've completed a marathon transversing it. Better to go back to the car and drive to the other side. Parking is poorly secured with bad lighting, bad drainage, humps and bumps in the stupidest places. Inside is monotony, empty stores. To be fair, they have variety, but it seems as if something is lacking or perhaps rents are just over the top. People tend to forget this is a city but a small one. No car wash? Weird. The food court fails dismally. Few of the common stores exist, Matlosana Mall in Klerksdorp is similar in size, in a city of similar population, yet every food supplier is there. So why have they opted not to site store here? The owners have dropped the ball somewhere. I'm sure the Chinese will be calling soon to buy and then show them how money is made. This is like looking at a tapestry and wondering why the weave has so many broken strands. Overall a...
Read moreI love what the new owners (Hanger18) did with this mall. Top floor open parking with "We Buy Cars" as the prominent showstopper on this level. Looks neat. Just a suggestion - before one enters the mall on this level, just before the entrance doors, there is a small 20° level up that is very slippery when wet. It is very dangerous when it rains. I once saw a lady fall to the ground due to this very reason. Luckily she was not seriously injured.
It also looks like they are slowly but surely doing maintenance to the outside of the building facing the highway. Good for them as this is the most prominent side when driving on the highway. This is a prime spot for advertisers. It used to look "rundown". Don't underestimate the power of a well maintained, good looking building. It draws much needed people / feet to this...
