Jikeleza Lodge — Hotel in Eastern Cape

hopefully this review will save someone else from staying at this hostel. Upon arrival we were warned by our baz bus driver about the area and we were informed not to leave the hostel by foot AT ALL. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, however when we saw our rooms we were shocked at the state of the place. There were suspicious stains on the bedding and in general the whole place was grimy. I have now read reviews from years ago that confirm others have made it clear the place is in need of a serious overhaul but there appears to have been no change in 9 years. These guys are supa amazing!!!! They waited for us till 3 in the morning! Njabulo & Avumile were friendly and helpful. Our kids loved them. The place is clean and very user fiendly. It is easy to get around Port Elizabeth from this place, and if you need directions, Njabulo & Avumile know their way around. lovely place to stay and definately worth every cent. I would recommend it to anyone who has a low budget but still wants a fabulouse and awersom...

Fazit vorweg: Ein einfaches, freundliches und sehr preisgünstiges Hostel ||**||Es scheint, das sich seit den vielen negativen Bewertungen einiges geändert hat.||||Alle Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption waren sehr hilfsbereit, ein Handbuch mit der Beschreibung eines historischen Rundgangs liegt aus, Touristenkarten liegen aus und die Mitarbeiter tragen einem alle interessanten Punkte ein.||Das Hostel ist eines der wenigen, die auch am Vertrieb der Mandela-Bay-Card teilnimmt, die Rabatte für Aktivitäten und Sehenswürdigkeiten im Umkreis anbietet.||||Die Gegend ist keine ausgesprochen gute Gegend, aber auch keine ausgesprochen schlechte Gegend. Es scheint, dass viele Häuser in den umgrenzenden Strassen Stück für Stück renoviert werden, aber noch viele abgewohnte Häuser und eher ärmere Bevölkerung hier wohnen.||Abends sollte man vielleicht nicht unbedingt allein umherlaufen, obwohl wir keine schlechten Erfahrungen gemacht haben.||||Autos müssen auf der Strasse geparkt werden. Auch das war bei uns problemlos.||||Haus und Zimmer sind einfach gehalten aber sauber und dafür sehr preiswert. ||Auch die Küche im Hostel ist sauber und gut ausgestattet.||Badezimmer sind fast...
