Newton Sands Guesthouse — Hotel in Eastern Cape

Tony and Melanie were superb hosts for our 4 day break. No request was too much for them, including hand drawn maps to get places! The premises is tidy, clean and set in beautifully kept gardens including a pool. Our room, an en suite family room included a fully functioning kitchenette. The double bed was very comfortable and made up daily. There was a double bunk ideal for a family with two kids. There is a beauty salon alongside the premises which my wife visited and highly recommends. The guest house is situated close to shopping centres and the sea and a 40 km drive to Addo national park. What a nice surprise we got. When we arrived , it was not exactly what I thought I would see. But once we drove in... it all changed. The people are so warm and friendly. The rooms are all decorated with care and thought. The wheelchair friendly room was huge!! It was given to us -- no chair involved. We also booked another double room. Everything was so crisp and clean. Queen size beds in all the rooms. The patio was almost on the pool. The garden was so neat and tidy. Breakfast was served in your room. I want to agree with a previous review that when we arrived it did not quite seem what we expected, but I soon found Newton Sands Guest House to be our best stay ever in Port Elizabeth. I would say in non peak hours you would be 5 - 10 minutes drive to all the important places in PE: airport, Summerstrand, shopping malls, Deal Party and Feather Market Hall/Theatre. Everything was perfect: warm hospitality, safe parking, good security, excellent rooms with a little kitchen nook, extremely clean and attention to detail and the cherry on top.....breakfast in bed.
