What a magnificent weekday restaurant to go to for one of their burger specials. The serving is more than generous and I often leave a little something on the plate as I am completely sated. I always go for the option of a beef burger (whatever the special) and haven’t been disappointed yet, more than 10 times later. The burger itself is delightfully tender and tasty, with a sliver of tomato and a leaf of lettuce. (I prefer not to have raw onion on my burger as, in my case, it detracts from the taste: To each his own.) The waitrons are always accommodating, pleasant, knowledgeable and they make my kids and girlfriend smile. I always find myself tipping well in excess of the polite 10%. I have never had an order that wasn’t 100% what I requested. (Especially important is the “no onions, please”) However unpleasant I find raw onion, the fried onion rings are polar opposite. Crispy, not oily at all (I’m not sure how they do that), and they are insanely scrumptious with the special sauces delivered to the table with each meal. I often find myself walking away with the Lemon and Garlic Sauce, which is available to purchase at the restaurant. This is a sauce that makes good food into great food at home. Even their chips are incomparable to any other. Steakhouse cut, crispy outside, fluffy inside and clearly fried in fresh oil. As regards the atmosphere, the only suggestion that I could make is that the music should be of a more diner-type style, with Rock ‘n Roll numbers from the 50s and 60s, classics from the 70s and 80s and maybe some more contemporary tunes thrown in every now and again for variety. (Wi-Fi and a YouTube premium account are an absolute must have in our time and economical to boot) Well done the staff and management of Grillers on a superb experience, enjoyed many times over. Who needs fancy when you can...
Read moreAs we regularly visit Grillers, it is sad to post this review. We went there on the morning of 24 Dec 2022 and it was absolutely terrible.
Three parts of our order arrived wrong and when we called our waitress she had a bad attitude towards us, as if it was our fault that she/the kitchen got our orders wrong. The milkshakes we ordered didn't even have cream on or sauce on the glass. When we told the waitress she read our order that she had written down back to us as if she thought we were probably the ones who gave the incorrect order details and as she was reading it she realised that we did order what we were complaining about and just turned around and walked away with an attitude.
Small things, but my husband ordered white toast with his breakfast and brown toast arrived. I ordered my eggs soft and it arrived as hard as rocks. My mother-in-law ordered a side salad instead of chips and chips arrived. Our bacon was hard and like rubber and the food was cold. My son's flapjack tasted like it stood on the counter for three days and just got heated up, it was hard. The waitress took the eggs, chips and brown toast back to kitchen and replaced it. This time, my eggs arrived undercooked. The white was still like jelly, so my husband sent it back again and spoke to someone at the front area and later on the waitress came to ask me if I wanted my eggs replaced and I just said no, because I felt like I was the one causing inconvenience to them. The food and service were probably of the worst quality that I have ever come across and I am not so sure if Grillers will be on our list of favourites anymore.
No one even apologised and I wonder if the owner knows that the place's name got dragged through the mud by the staff who were...
Read moreI went to go buy 4 ice creams, simple enough right? I paid for the ice creams by card, then gave the lady R 100 note, told her what she must give me back as change, the rest was a tip for her.
After a few minutes she came to ask if I have been helped, the same lady who was just helping me. I told her I am still waiting for my change. She said she would go grab it for me quickly. She went back into the restuarant. Went to help 3 other cars, and still didnt bring my change. I gestured to her to her about where is the money. Finally 20 minutes later she brought my change to me. Now bare in mind I only ordered 4 ice creams, which now was melted, even the chocolate and caramel cap was melting, I told her this is ridiculous and the ice creams are melted, and they had melted all over my daughter's pants, all she did was say sorry and turned her back and helped another car. Not even an offer to get new ice creams for us. This is the type of service i experienced years ago, which is why I stopped supporting your business in the first place.
It was as if she was trying to avoid bringing the change so she could keep it. Truly I am disappointed in the level of...
