Eco Park Lodge — Hotel in Gauteng

Definitely not a 4-star establishment anymore. Tired and in need of some TLC. Staff disinterested (except for the lady attending in the breakfast room, she was polite and friendly). Things didn’t work properly, run down. Could hear the highway traffic through closed windows and drawn curtains, so take earplugs if you consider staying here (they should come complimentary in the rooms). The barn door bathroom door also didn’t close flush to the wall and creaked when sliding it (which may be an issue if you have a noise or smell sensitive companion in the room). Note the breakfast room is upstairs. No one helped with luggage, not a problem for us, but kind of expected to have this service offered at a 4 star rated establishment for those who may need it. There is secure parking and it’s in a residential suburb close to lots of malls and eating options. Fairly easy access to the highway too. So not all bad. I'd love to know where the Eco Park Lodge comes into it. Urban Tuscany meets bushveld is more like it. My room faced onto the highway and I had continual traffic noise. Dreadful! I tried the spa bath in my room and had cold to lukewarm water. Plus the water pressure was exceptionally poor. The bathroom towels were old, small and threadbare - certainly not what I would expect from a 4 star establishment. There was no milk / milk sachets in the room. Lighting in the room is poor if one wishes to read and work. The work surface is poor for business working. The breakfast was adequate self service, but the fruit salad was out of a tin and had plastic swimming in it. The hot buffet in trays that were supposed to keep it warm was cold as were the plates. Don't bother to switch on the TV. Not a single channel was properly tuned in. The safe in the room was locked on arrival. I reported it to get fixed and am still waiting. I will not...

There is a man at reception who doesn't understand anything. Cold night and no blankets in the rooms, called reception n they insisted that it's there if not I should use an air con. Lord the ecos from the room next door , i didn't sleep a wink it felt like they wer right up in my room, worst of all they got a radio(volume to the max) to cover up their noise and no one asked them to turn it down as other tenants were sleeping. Was travelling with elderly people who couldint go upstairs to the restaurant they told me to go upstairs n get food for them cos thers no one to do so. Should I go on??
