A must stay in South Africa!!! My 5-Star review for Hyatt House Sandton!!! My recent long-term stay at the Hyatt House Sandton in Johannesburg was truly exceptional. Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, this boutique, chic apartment hotel became a true home away from home for us. The level of care from the staff is simply unmatched. I’ve traveled the world and have never met a team so genuinely caring. They treat you like family, not just a guest, and it’s clear they work from the heart rather than for a tip. A special shoutout to the amazing front desk team—Tiyane, Toka, Q, name Rahul, —who were absolutely fantastic. Nonhlanhla, Sibongile, and Costa on the dining team, made dining a joy. Speaking of the food, the chefs and culinary team consistently whip up amazingly delicious dishes for all types of palates!! A heartfelt thanks also goes to Bruce, the operations manager, who was always on the ground ensuring everything ran smoothly. It was wonderful to see how all the management and staff worked together with such warmth and dedication. On top of that heartfelt service, the facilities are fantastic, and housekeeping and maintenance team is refreshingly proactive in making sure every need is met and that rooms are meticulously clean. From the on-site guest laundry, well-equipped gym, quiet pool, patio garden, and even a little treehouse loft, to the mouth-watering full-service breakfast and the wood-fire oven pizzas, everything was top-notch. The property is completely halal, and the fresh tea bar is a delight. One of the most touching moments was when the team surprised my partner—who had just been discharged from the hospital—with a thoughtful “get well” plate delivered directly to our room. That kindness truly meant the world to us. If you’re looking for a five-star home away from home in Sandton, this is it. The value, the atmosphere, and the incredible people will have me coming back time and time again. Friends, Hyatt House Sandton is a MUST stay!

Firstly thing when arriving is the high level of security. Thereafter, the friendliness, warm hospitality and helpfulness. I most enjoyed the Halal breakfast which has everything you expect and more. Ultimately, for me its halal and touch with a very familiar touch of good decor and warmness. The rooms are capable to serve as self catering and the hotel restaurant serves dinner. The pizza oven Pizza is definitely worth a try and the money. The rooms are large but somehow the layout always makes you feel like things are in the way and didn't have enough cupboard space. The cleaning staff were on point and things were very tidy even when my family was messy. There is a very calm area outside with the tree house and the large splash pool. There is plenty of parking and a coffee shop on site.

I booked this hotel for four nights for my stay in the Johannesburg area. It’s located somewhat hidden in the suburb of Sandton, which was a pleasant thing due to the quietness, unless this was disturbed by the screaming of children from the neighbouring property, which was the case on the first two days. But that’s not the hotels fault. The room was spacious and nicely designed, but I had an issue with the cleanliness of the wooden floor in the room, because there was dust and long hair troughout the entire stay. I also mentioned this to the staff as a feedback when checking out. The staff by the way was very friendly and helpfully at all times. I would book this hotel again for future stays! And very important, I felt safe walking around in this area!

Review of Hyatt House, Sandton Johannesburg||I have never in my life left a negative review, but my recent stay at the Hyatt House Sandton Johannesburg was disappointing from beginning to end, and it’s important to share.||Before arriving, I messaged the hotel to make simple requests, including connecting rooms or rooms across the hall. I never received a reply. Upon check-in, I was given the exact opposite of what I had requested. Tired from long travel, I let it go and went to sleep — but that was only the beginning.||In my first room, the air conditioning didn’t work, the TV didn’t work, and there was no iron despite it being a standard amenity. I used the hotel’s messaging platform to request washcloths — no response. I called the front desk for both an iron and washcloths, and neither was delivered before I had to leave for dinner. Later that evening, I explained all this to the front desk. The young man was kind and apologetic and even tried to fix the TV himself, but ultimately I was moved to another room — at midnight.||The second room had working air conditioning, a TV, and an iron, but it lacked basic bathroom amenities (lotions, soaps, and a full set of towels). I had to carry these items over from my first room myself. Even after two days, housekeeping never brought washcloths. When I finally called again, a staff member delivered just one, with no greeting, no apology, and an attitude that made it seem like I was inconveniencing him.||Things got worse. A few days later, while preheating the oven to reheat food, it suddenly exploded — glass shattered across the kitchen floor. Thankfully, I was wearing slippers. Maintenance arrived, said I’d need to move again, and returned with a new room key — without apology and without involving a manager. This was now my third room.||The third room was further away from the other room in my reservation and once again missing amenities. The TV repeatedly shut off on its own, the bedside sconces didn’t work, and the room phone didn’t even have a cord, so I couldn’t call the front desk. To make matters worse, the room faced the pool and the Treehouse restaurant area, where I was subjected to late-night noise from staff and guests, as well as smoke billowing into my room from the outdoor pizza oven whenever I opened the sliding door.||Throughout my stay, the only consistent positive was the kindness of one front desk agent, who repeatedly had to hear my complaints and tried to help. I declined moving yet again to a fourth room. He assured me a manager would contact me, but no one ever did.||As someone with a long career in luxury hospitality, I am very understanding of operational challenges. But the number of issues I faced here — from lack of communication to broken amenities, poor service follow-through, and even a dangerous appliance incident — is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one carrying the Hyatt name.||Unfortunately, I will not return to this property on future visits to Johannesburg and am seriously reconsidering my loyalty to the Hyatt...

Hyatt House Sandton, Johannesburg Honest review. 5.5 / 10

Detailed honest review from a Muslim perspective. Great price for the hotel. Friendly staff Linen and towels get changed only every 4th day. Breakfast is included. Food is more of a Pakistani range. Mince, sraricha, eggs (ask chef to make how you want), mushrooms on some days, potatoes on some days, fruit (watermelon, melon grapes mixed, olives, feta, peppers, coffee machine, milk cold, juice (orange, mango, guava, apple) croissants, bread, toaster, crumpets someday, small butters, yogurt (plain, strawberry), cereals (corn flakes, rice crispies, al bran) sausages on some days. Starts 6:30am, ends 10am Fully self catering. Fridge. Dishwasher. Microwave. Iron. Ironing board. Hair dryer. Huge bed. Nice curtains. Makes the room very very dark. Huge TV in bedroom and lounge. Some dstv channels. Mnet. Mnet4movies. Emovies. Emoviesextra. Cartoon channels. Some local channels. Supersport channels. Small gym area, good equipment. 2 showers in the gym closed nicely. Water dispenser Meeting room area big Outside sitting areas and tree house. Small swimming pool area with benches. Bar selling alcohol by the pool. Salaah facility by the parking area. Small can fit about 8 max. Has wudhu area for 1. Shoe rack outside. Nice bathroom. Huge shower head. You must request for jugs etc for Islamic experience. Small stickers in lounge locating Qiblah directions (not easily noticeable) You need to clean your own apartment each day. Room service only makes up your bead. Coffee and tea with coffee machine in kitchen. Sachet coffee, sachet tea, sachet suger. Nice outside area of the rooms with a sliding door. Ground units outside area are not private. Nice and quiet. You cannot hear noises through the walls. Overall 5.5 rating with room to improve. Worth it if you want to budget and just need a nice resting place. Bad smells in the units. Speak to the front desk to try and help. Free wifi uncapped and good fast speed 10mbps. Plugs all around the unit (both sides of bed with 2 pin and 3 pin and USB. Safe in cupboard. Food prices are way too high. Best to buy food from outside. A few issues with electrical things but gets sorted if you report it Units are tiled out. Making it a little cold inside. Bring extra towels for each day. Stock up on groceries to make your stay comfortable. Bring extra blankets with as linen is cold on your body. They only supply 1 extra blanket You get 1 bottle of water for free for your entire stay. 1 litre. There's no dishwasher liquid. Bring your own. There's no detergents at all. Check the room nicely and request them to clean properly before you stay. It's a good hotel and units for the price compared to air bnbs, it's also better than the delta hotels. I would come back for about a 2 or 3 day holiday. There's only 1 bin in the kitchen. It's neat for the price. Value...

Most shocking guest relations and hotel experience. This hotel should still be in its honeymoon period, but wow tired. Checked in to room 215 which was not prepped to receive guests, Samsung flat screen not working, Adel the front of office & HOD sarcastically asking me is it switched on, and then proceed to ask is there a remote and is it switched on. Minutes later she came up to the room to try and fix commenting that "this is strange, it has never done this before. Not enough towels for amount of checked guests, and 1/2 roll of toilet paper. We were then moved to room 219 by Lovemore from maintenance. This room appeared at least ready to accept guests, that feeling was short lived, the amenities in the toilet was broken and empty incl the shower, with no shower gel. Lucky we brought our own. Dinner was shocking.at checkin I enquired, Thoka the receptionist indicated there is a wedding that should finish by 5pm, Adel also confirmed the same and said 6pm after which dinner will be served. During the afternoon still went back to reception for a menu, couldn't find in the room. They asked that I take a photo... anyway we went down just after six, function was still occupying the restaurant. I placed an order with Richard to avoid a longer wait. Seating was prepared at the door of restaurant and we were eating whilst people were clearing up the restaurant. Richard also prepared us some #Starbucks cappuccinos, fast fwd to 21h05 and a knock on the door, I opened up and Thoka offered me an upgrade, I declined thinking really.. anyway another hour later and the fire alarm are activated in my room. I go downstairs to reception and find Adel, the housekeeper that brought the toilet roll placed on the table where I was sitting on my laptop, another guy eish trying to explain the emergency that wasn't. Anyway the bed was made up with no flat sheet, also for a 6month old mattress, you could feel the joints Dinner was great and #Starbucks was shocking. We went to breakfast at 9h30 .. this was a sad, sad state of affairs ..breads looks lonely with no croissants, buffet was cold and no option given to order from the menu. All in all the food was actually quite good. Room 219 had no soundproofing, the acoustics is very bad. I could hear cars in road reffing etc. You can also hear all sorts of sounds interesting the roof and doors etc.. after the fire alarm I was on high alert. On checkout Adel was there again, I gave her the last feedback, I also shared that I placed an initial poor review on Facebook. Adel response was.. "Thank you for your feedback" she said at least 2 or 3 times. FINAL WORD: Go spend your money and time somewhere else, it is not worth the stress, rudeness, substandard hygiene &cleanliness. GO...
