Bootlegger Grayston — Restaurant in Gauteng

I'm sad to share, from the early days of Sea Point to watch The Bootlegger Co. grow into the brand it is today, my most recent experience leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I asked my waiter about the 'Peruvian Chicken' as per the table talker. He explained it's chicken with lime, both I could see in the photograph, but had to press him for more ingredients which eventually came through.

When the dish arrived I could tell instantly something was up, my chicken was beef and nothing was said. When I confronted 'Ricky' he apologised and said it was his bad for getting it wrong. After sending the dish back with the majority of the meat which I didn't eat - 'Ricky' asked quickly If I wanted a beer. To which I asked for a Power Smoothe, and he said 'a regular power smoothie' coming up.

All in all, if a complimentary power smoothie was used to remedy the situation fair enough, this review wouldn't exist. But I got a full bill for R195.00. Tisk tisk to the service industry for not keeping a...

What an absolute gem! It was our first visit to Bootlegger on Grayston Drive, and we were blown away by the warm welcome and exceptional service. William truly made our day – his infectious energy, prompt service, and friendly smile added a wonderful touch to the entire experience.

The food was nothing short of outstanding. We ordered the green omelette, iced coffee, the Bootlegger breakfast, and the buttermilk flapjacks – every single item was fresh, flavourful, and clearly prepared with care. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail really stood out.

The setting is open, inviting, and effortlessly stylish – the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. We genuinely had such a great time and will definitely be back again soon. A big thank you to William and the team for making our first visit...

This is a pretty nice coffee shop and one of the more comfortable bootleggers I’ve been to. There is secure parking and it’s usually not very busy which is nice. The aesthetic is pretty and the service is alright. Sometimes they can be a little less attentive than I’d like but decent for the most part. The coffee is good but a few rands more expensive than other places. I would come here again but don’t know if I’d make it my regular...
