Lucky Bean Guesthouse is what you need to relax after a long flight or an exhausting journey. Our room was quiet, clean and had everything we needed - bath, shower, safe, fridge, kettle and tea and coffee. There are European sockets in the rooms, so charging our phones was easy. There are only a few rooms in the property, and guests share a lovely swimming-pool with sunbeds and a dining room. Breakfast included fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, jam with tea and coffee and a variety of egg dishes made especially for us. The owner, Conway, was really friendly and helpful, he consulted us on the shopping, wine, local cafes and other things. It was such a pleasure to talk to him and discuss everything we needed. The area of Melville is safe in comparison to downtown Johannesburg. It's green, quiet and has some very nice restaurants and cafes. Getting around by Uber is cheap and convenient. We spent 2 days on the property and enjoyed the peace and quiet of its garden. Thank you so much, Conway, for making us feel at home :)))· The area of Johannesburg has electricity problems now and then, but there's a generator in the guestouse, and wifi was always available, as well...

What a superb welcome to South Africa!

After a long flight, we were able to check in early to an amazing king sized room with a private garden space overlooking a little pool with goldfish, all thickly planted and green - lovely panorama from the bed! A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design of the place - beautiful artwork and comfortable communal guest spaces as well as unique artistic touches in the rooms.

Huge bed was super comfortable with a good shower and all the amenities you would hope for. Ones we didn’t expect and were really delighted with were an honesty bar, able to buy SA plug adaptors, and a delicious breakfast. The location is great - steps from all the restaurants and bars of Melville and a very short walk home after dinner to enjoy some wine from the honesty bar before an early night.

Best part though was how welcomed we were made to feel by Murphy and Sisifo. Genuinely warm and kind and wanted to help us feel at home!

Highly highly recommended, wish we had had more than one night at this delightful spot. And that we had had chance to try out the...

Was desperate seeking accommodation at the last minute, as I was booked in at a very shady part of Jozi. Googled like crazy and came upon the Lucky Bean Guesthouse, contacted the owner he was not in JHB at the time but said he would call me back in a few mins. I waited and less than 2mins later I had accommodation in a clean and safe environment. It was half the price of hotels but I can honestly say it was of the cleanest, safest and most homely places I have been to in a very long time. It's quiet and peaceful and actually had the best sleep in a very longtime. Next time I'm in Jhb I will definitely book there again. Room was off the garden... Nice and spacious, on suite bathroom and shower, TV, DStv, Aircon and a beautiful view of the garden, also has off street parking, pool with access to the main house. A cute little gem. Home away from home. Thank u Conway and Faye for the hospitality and bailing me out in my hour of need. I will definitely recommend you to my friends, family and colleagues.

I highly recommend Lucky Bean Guesthouse! The accommodation is tastefully decorated, and the beautiful, clean pool is perfect for relaxation. The rooms are spacious and very inviting. I especially want to highlight the friendly staff, who are always helpful and go out of their way to fulfill every request. Convey gave us great advise for restaurants and was super friendly. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I look forward to returning!
