I booked Spilt Milk on a Saturday evening for a very short notice birthday party.. (Yes, Spilt Milk is open in the evenings on weekends!) I had been to one other restaurant in Melville to enquire about the booking and they were so rude to me, they swayed me to Spilt Milk. It was hurried planning and I was worried about what I'd get and I havent ever been so happy! The food was fantastic, we had dedicated service and the drinks were spot on.. I felt that the pricing is very, very good value for money because we got great portions and drank alot and the end bill was not insane.. it was just right. They went out of their way to accommodate us and the manager, Craig, was considerate of every need and was there with me every step of the way. We had the whole outside section to ourselves and when it rained, we were able to move inside because they allocated space just in case of rain. Who does that?? It was incredible.. Would definitely recommend!!! Thank you to all at Spilt Milk who made it such a fun and...

After hearing great things about split milk we arrived on a sat moring at 10 am for breakfast in high spirits ,rather quickly we were dissapointed the service was very lack lustre , we seated ourselves , any abiance created by the well adorned space completely ruined by the noise of staff shouting at each other with no regard for customers , the service was the opposite as we hardly got a word out of our waitress to welcome us or provide any information on the offering

The food was very average , we ordered 3 different breakfasts and all were just ok , the outside seating area where we hoped to get some fresh air was more like a rubish depot with staff taking out rubish and bins being opened metres from our table and the smell of wet trash not the most appetizing ,cutlery and condiments were dirty , glasses were dirty , prices were reasonable Definately our first...

The service here very disappointing. I wish I could give the restaurant a good review as they have just opened up, but the service was so bad we have left on two occasions now without being served. The first time they had no drinks, the second time we decided to give them a try for breakfast - and we were not seated for 5 minutes, when we finally got the attention of one of their very many waiters on the floor, we were seated at the bar and we asked to be given the first table that opens up - two patrons walked in and were seated before us, we raised this with one of the waiters but nothing was done to address it. We decided to wait again, but then nobody actually even came to take our orders, we raised this with one of the bar staff, but no one was sent over once again, so we once again left. I really do hope that they improve...

Spilt Milk looks warm, cosy fire, inviting atmosphere. At the entrance is a yummy and styled food display, with interesting looking twisted bagels. Price on the board is R15, my mouth watering at the delicious choice. I ask for clarity on the price and request a take away purchase. After a bit of confusion, I receive a tin foil wrapped basket (how sweet) for a pastry family breakfast. On leaving, I opened the completely wrapped parcel, only to discover a plain bagel. Huh? Nothing like what was on the table or what I was led to believe I was purchasing. Go back. Explanation given (by the future owner) is that the supplier has changed. Genuine error? Bait and switch? Inept staff? Small matter. Pretty inconsequential. But the initial and promising impression has disappeared. I leave disappointed. Won’t return again.

This spot is marked as one of the top breakfast spots in Johannesburg, but that is questionable. The smokers get the "vibey" hidden outside area, whilst non-smokers are forced inside or on the narrow street strip with no atmosphere. We were not made aware that we were choosing a smoking section and when Blessing the manager, was approached about this, he could care less to make us comfortable. Then the food arrived, the waffle was a frozen waffle defrosted, that we could hardly cut through and it was lathered in oil, the bacon was rock hard and processed cheese was used. All three of us stood up, left our food as it was, settled the bill and left. Mediocre for sure. Foodies not a treat at all.

Spilt Milk is a must-visit spot. The workers are incredibly friendly, which makes for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The meals are amazing and super delicious, with the breakfast waffle being a personal favorite. The backyard sitting area is perfect for friend groups, with its relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating. It's a great spot for working or studying with fast, unlimited WiFi and charging ports. The cafe is surprisingly quiet, making it a conducive environment for productivity. Overall, Spilt Milk is a great spot for a delicious meal, friendly service, and a peaceful ambiance. I highly recommend it.
