One On Colenso Guest House — Hotel in Gauteng

On the outset this guest house seems really lovely - if decor and grounds are anything to go on but there is so much that makes no sense. There is no wifi, in a busy JHB hub, this seems like a no brainer. Also, the house manager has the only remote so you are left having to call her when you are back from dinner etc to open up for you. A remote per room seems way more practical. The website says there is DSTV bouquet per room, not so much...SABC was the sum total of my viewing. There is also a bar fridge in the room but nothing in it, an honesty bar type facility would make way more sense. Our usual guest house which is down the road was fully booked but I wont be coming back here - its just an odd set-up which I think is missing a major opportunity. Oh and last point when I called the landline when sitting at the gate waiting to get in, I was asked how I got the number - the website listed number...again just odd and...

No aircon in the rooms, no shower cap and no hair dryer. Empty tubes of shower wash in the room. We stayed for 2 nights and they were never replenished. Comfortable and cosy rooms. Spacious and great to unwind at the end of the day. Peaceful and quiet unless the place is getting hired out for a wedding or another function then it'll get noisy.

Breakfast is served as part of the stay. Which is generous and will provide all the fuel you need...
