Our family recently celebrated my daughter Chloe's engagement to Josh at Butterfly Blue, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the extraordinary experience they created. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this would be more than just a dinner – it would be a memory we'd cherish forever.
The restaurant truly went above and beyond by surprising us with a breathtaking beach setup at no additional cost. The staff had transformed a section of the beach into an enchanted space that perfectly captured the romance and joy of the occasion. The gentle waves provided a natural soundtrack as the sun painted the sky in hues that seemed to match the restaurant's name.
The food was nothing short of excellent, with each dish showcasing both technical precision and creative flair. However, what truly set this experience apart was the staff's genuine enthusiasm and warmth. Every single team member contributed to making Chloe and Josh's engagement celebration extra special. From the thoughtful table arrangements to the perfectly timed service, their attention to detail was impeccable.
What touched us most was how the staff seemed personally invested in our celebration. They weren't just serving us; they were sharing in our joy. Their authentic excitement and dedication to making this occasion memorable was evident in every interaction, every smile, and every thoughtful gesture.
The beautiful beach setup they prepared was truly the crown jewel of the evening. As the sun began to set, the carefully arranged decor created an atmosphere that felt magical and intimate – the perfect setting for such a significant milestone in our children's lives.
To the entire team at Butterfly Blue: thank you for turning what would have already been a special evening into an absolutely unforgettable celebration. Your kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made this engagement celebration more beautiful than we could have imagined. You've given our family memories we will treasure for years to come.
This restaurant doesn't just serve meals – they create moments that last a lifetime. For anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, Butterfly Blue isn't just recommended;...
Read moreThe one star is purely because I cannot post a review without a rating. My boyfriend and I were here after a walk on the beach and as it was still a bit early, we wanted to sit down for drinks and dinner a bit later. We got the menus and the waitress immediately asked what we would like. No introduction, no welcome, nothing. We asked her for a couple of minutes, to which she rolled her eyes and just walked away. We ordered the first drinks, upon which the waitress prompted us to order food. We informed her of our plans. Cue the eye roll and a sigh from her. She then proceeded to yell at the bartender to get us our drinks. I asked for a glass of water, the bartender got yelled at again. He was actually very friendly when he brought the drinks and apologized for her behaviour. Throughout our drinks, she was either cold or ignored us entirely. The restaurant was not busy at all though. She was so unpleasant that we rather decided to drive to Knysna for dinner. When we asked for the bill, she threw it down on the table in front of us. We eventually got tired of waiting for her and paid in front. Cue another eye roll and no greeting, not even in response to ours. She made a comment of "I am not talking to you", but looked at me when she said it, so I am not sure whether it was meant for the poor bartender or for me.
Apart from this very rude waitress, my impression of this restaurant was that the food is overpriced for something that is nothing spectacular. For example, R200 for a hake fillet and chips is in my opinion heavily overpriced when I can get good quality elsewhere. The milkshake and cocktails were very tasty though, but I will never come back to this restaurant since I can get better service and...
Read moreI have eaten at Blu several times before and was disappointed by my visit there today. We ordered Raka Happiness as I felt the other choices were too inflated in price compared to other restaurants I have recently visited. The sparkling wine was flat and could not be replaced as there wasn’t another chilled bottle. We overheard someone telling the waitress to quickly get the warm bottle out of the office and chill it. At this point, we cancelled the order and asked for a bottle of Silverthorn but unfortunately, there were no chilled bottles.
Our waitress, who was excellent came over and offered us a bottle of La Lude at the price of the Silverthorn (on paying the bill, we were in fact only charged for our original choice of Happinnes). We accepted this but we were disappointed to find cheap glassware used as a standard through the restaurant. Once again, our waitress Que was innovative and managed to find us 2 boulle glasses which were nice but still not adequate.
Cautious now, we didn’t order a lot of food but what we did have was very nice and we enjoyed it.
At no stage was there a presence of a manager on the floor. At the end of our meal the floor manager came to take payment and clearly had no understanding of what had transpired.
I am saddened by what I perceive to be a decline in this restaurant. One cannot rely on just a...
