Jessica's Self Catering — Hotel in KwaZulu-Natal

What a horrific experience ... I called on Monday to make a reservation for my family as we were traveling for a Church function. The gentleman that answered the phone was so rude he advised i needed to send me a watz up then he could assist. After i did that he sent me a pic of the room and stated that payment needed to be made in "full" before the room could be secured.

I complied to what he requested and once payment was made and sent POP then the "room" was booked.

we arrived at the facility on Friday and i called him stating that we were outside , thats when the nightmare stated ... We had not even jumped out our vehicle when this rude man comes towards us looking into the vehicle stating that we booked a room with a double bed and now there is 4 of us and we cannot have that room that we paid for, he then went on to say he has a family room which is more in price and we can used that for that night but tomorrow need to look for alternative accommodation. to this we agreed and the our change was given to us.

when we arrived in the room it was horrific , it had a musty smell and the bedding ect was so old and dirty

there was 2 x sleeper couches in the lounge and when we enquired about bedding as we were leaving he told us he has a key and will leave it in the room later that night.

This place needs to be reported as the pics online are so deceiving. The place is dirty , untidy and not well kept. The pool is filthy and the braai area is pathetic

on the morning of our departure we were sitting the lounge when the "owner" walks past then just comes inside to switch off the outside light , as the switch was in the inside of the room we had been using.

The place was nice and peaceful, except for the filthy smell in the family room provided, our bags were left unpacked due to that smell, sleeping couch was also having a filthy smell, bedding was not clean on arrival we had to request it to be changed the next morning, otherwise the garden is beautiful during the day and a honestly scary in the evening due to overcrowding of trees and flowers. To me that place needs some upgrades since it looks like an old house which needs some touch ups. Everything looks old , the worst is the filthy smell in cupboards, of which describes it as unhygienic. Would recommend the host undergo hospitality workshops with regards to handle customer/ guests complains,bcz when raising our complains instead of apologising he prefers to be defensive and becomes angry, of which leads guests to be uncomfortable. Truly speaking this was the our first worst 💔 experience when visiting umhlanga compares to other places we have visited before, we like umhlanga since it has up standards ,bt Jessica's...

No place or way to write/work comfortably or for an extended period.||2. Add two prong plug at "on counter" location for laptop use either on counter or on near-by couch. ||3. Increase amount of available hot water. Most limited of any place that I've stayed. ||4. Floor mopping left slick residue. Mop with water only in "last pass" to allow better tile traction.||5.
