I rarely write hotel reviews, but this time I have to. This is a place for everyone's bucket list. If I could I would give Gonana Guest House 10 stars.

Truly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. From checkin until departure this entire stay was just magical. The guesthouse is located right on one of the most beautiful sandy beaches I’ve ever seen with breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s excellent organic minimalist interior design with a Scandinavian touch brings the outside in to the well sized rooms. Very comfortable mattresses and top quality sheets transported me to the clouds every night. Generous and mostly organic breakfast buffet with home baked bread, fresh made apple juice, eggs, local cheeses and much more gave me the best start every day.

It was not the right season for whale spotting from the terrace, but instead I saw lots of dolphins and a great variety of different sea birds every morning.

I enjoyed the days either reading books on the terrace, sunbathing by the pool or strolling in the sandy dunes surrounded by more fynbos than I knew existed.

The low tide during my late afternoon walks offered a great opportunity to see what’s normally hiding under the surface. The Kelp forest was only meters away and I wish that I would've been brave enough to jump in. Maybe I would have found my own "Octopus Teacher" right there, right then.

The village has a good variety of restaurants and the team at Gonana was very helpful with recommendations and organised tables every evening.
