Benguela Blue Restaurant — Restaurant in Saldanha Bay Local Municipality

I ordered the fish of the day. It was rubbery, under cooked at places and i don't think that it was fresh. The rice that came with the fish was dry and tasteless. I couldn't eat it and had to order something else. I ordered the calamari burger, which was ok. To drink, i ordered the mohito, which was terrible, and i wasn't able to finish it. Service was also not good, very unfriendly.

Unfortunately, Google reviews don't allow me to respond to the restaurant's reply on my reviews. So, this is my response to the restaurant's review. For you to say that most of the fish was eaten is a lie. The fish was rubbery, parts of it were clearly undercooked, and it had an unpleasant taste and texture. I hardly ate the fish or the rice and sent most of it back. Neither the chef nor the manager came to our table to apologize or investigate the complaint. Your lack of accountability and attempt at painting me, your customer as an opportunist, is as disappointing as the food and service we...

This was the most unfortunate lunch I have been on in decades. We drove from Cape Town craving the quality of food in Paternoster and we were faced with starters that took 40 minutes, a tiny calamari starter drenched in oil and over-fried, a mussel pot that was such a massive disappointment. The service was slow, non-existent at times and unfriendly. The manager came to take our drinks order after communicating the long waiting time, but no real sense of apologetic gestures. We drove back to Cape Town instead of staying the night in Paternoster - that's how sad and frustrating it was. Sorry to write this honest story, but I wished we spent our money...

What a Letdown.

My experience was disappointing, to say the least. Drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive, Double shot Cappuccino was in fact not double shot and actually took the longest to arrive. The food was mediocre, that's with sugarcoating. Burger was very wet, dripping in fact. The chip portion was a miserable sight, 7 chips. Had to take off the bottom bun of the burger since there was so much sauce. Ordered Onion Rings that never arrived, Service was terrible, took ages even though the restaurant was very empty and there was a lack of staff for some reason.
